We stayed at there for a night in Sept. The rooms are large and airy. There is a tea/coffee station for your use. Very short walk into town. Parking available. Fabulous breakfast available in the Sunroom which looks on to the gardens. more

We picked this place because it was close to the bus/train station and we were traveling without a car. It was an easy walk to downtown. The rooms were very nice and quiet. Breakfast was great (full Irish). The owners were very nice also. Found great Irish music nearby at O'Dormands. more

We were supposed to stay at the Dunromin B&B but got switched over to Carraig Rua because of a family emergency for the Dunromin innkeepers. The location of Carraig was actually slightly better than Dunromin would have been because it is further down Dublin Road and therefore closer to Kilkenny Castle and High Street. It was a very easy walk... more

The Carraig Rua was a good place to stay but not exceptional or extraordinary in any way. We would recommend it for anyone who wants to spend most of their time in the town of Kilkenny. We were referred to Carraig Rua by the proprietor of the Dunromin B&B which was booked. We were in Kilkenny on an Arts Festival... more

Very close to train/bus station if you are not driving. Room was OK, but no coffee/tea makers in room. Large shopping center nearby but a little walk to the Castle and downtown. Owner gave us a map and good directions. more

Our email booking confirmation stated that check in was at 3pm It also stated that if you expected to arrive after 3pm to let the house know. We took the opportunity while in Kilkenny to visit good friends that we hadn't seen in 9 years or so, who lived an hour away. At around 3pm while en route from Dublin... more

Carriag Rua was exactly what we were looking for -- a clean not ridiculously-priced B&B with parking and within walking distance (8 minutes) to down. We had a great day in town and a quiet night's sleep and a wonderful breakfast. We were traveling with a 9-year old and two teenagers and felt perfectly welcome. more

Our one night stay at the Carraig Rua was very nice. The location of the B&B could not be beat. It was only about a 10 minute walk to the castle and 5 minute walk to bars and restaurants. The B&B was clean and simple with a homey feel. The breakfast was good and reminded us something that a grandma... more

My stay was average. One person posted about the shower not having a soap dish or shelf. This was true in my case, as well as the shower door being broke and not able to close. I wasn't offered an ironing board when I asked for an iron. Had to improvise. But I found that most B&Bs in Ireland didn't... more
