Very friendly staff. Clean kitchen with some free food (Oil, Vinegar, Butter etc.). Note that the kitchen is only opened from 6.30 am till 22 pm or so (and only if the staff wakes up early enough..). Cosy atmosphere (if you like old buildings) although we didn't really make contact with other travelers as the common rooms were nearly always... more

This hostel has some charm but it is very basic. I have stayed there on numerous occasions and wouldn't hesitate to go back. The dorm rooms have the standard bunk-beds which are adequate but the communal bathrooms can be quite unpleasant with leakages from the showers etc.Word of warning : never leave your room barefoot. The private twin rooms are also... more

Hmmm...I can not say I had a horrible stay but it is not for "older people." The mattresses are not very comfortable and the showers need updating. The staff was very nice. Very hippie! The only reason I won't stay there again will because the furnishings need to be updated. Just not comfortable enough for this soon to be thirty... more

The staff was friendly and helpful. If you had a question and they did not know the answer they would find out for you. The kitchen was well equipped. It was a little cold in the bathroom, but not too bad. The mattresses will comfortable. A handy feature is that the bedrooms had lots of electrical outlets. This hostel is... more

My husband and I stayed here because it was cheap (40 euros for a winter night) and it looked basic but comfortable on the website. The receptionist was quite nice (who isn't nice in Ireland?) and the dusty living room was pretty cosy. However, the unisex, dorm-style bathroom was nasty - so bad that I refused to shower there. Our... more

While visiting Ireland we stayed in several hostels and this was the worst. The place seemed dark and did not portray a feeling of warmth or hospitality. We booked a six bedded dorm room for our group. The room was barely fair. While the beds were adequate and the furnishings were sufficient, the room was dark and drab. The room... more

There are some cosy interiors with old furniture and a cosy atmosphere, at least out of season, and I think the hostel deserves a more positive description. The dormitories and its facilities could be renovated and thereby get a cleaner look, though. The ambiance is slightly flower-power-irish-buddhism-like, with strong colours and a distinct flavour of oriental spice in the kitchen... more

This hostel is across the street from several pubs, so if you are a light sleeper and don't want to be up at closing time, you may want to spend the extra money on a bed and breakfast. The location is amazing though, right in the city center. more
