Almost cancelled the trip due to reading poor reviews. I am so glad that we didn't - the hotel was well run with friendly and helpful staff. There were a lot of coach parties and the staff worked incredibly hard to maintain efficiently run meal times to keep delays to a minimum. This was necessary due to important deadlines for... more

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights as part of a coach party. Our ground floor room was spacious with a double bed, single bed, TV, en-suite, kettle etc, hairdryer. The reception area is huge and gleaming. There was entertainment on every night in the well staffed bar. Plenty for breakfast, cereal, toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, black pudding or... more

We stayed at the hotel on a coach tour and were pleasantly surprised after reading some poor reviews of it. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and all had a nice outlook. The food was good and plentiful and was served in an attractive dining room overlooking the garden. There was a singer in the bar each night which people... more

Hotel was run down and old, furniture badly worn as well as the bath room. Very slow elevators which is a problem when traveling with a large group. There was 5 tour busses there at the same time. This Hotel carters to large groups and I am sure they get it for a very low rate,if not for the tour... more

Stayed here as part of Caledonian Travel couch tour. I couldn't say if the staff were helpful or not as there was never anyone available to speak to at reception. The manager was always either "just due to arrive or had just left" There is no nightly entertainment. The food is reminiscent of school dinners circa 1970!. If you are... more

I do not recognise the hotel from some of the reviews. Rooms spacious and well furnished. Beautiful bathroom. All but a couple of the staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to go there again. more

First of all, the decor was from the 1970s. The bed was horrible and the sideboard was chipped everywhere. The breakfast consisted of really cheap meat, with rashers that were so salty, they were inedible. Nasty breakfast all round. more

I stayed in the Earl of Desmond recently for one night. My room looked liked something from the 1970s, no way is this hotel worthy of 3 stars. It took me about 35mins to check in as a bus tour had arrived at the same time. A wedding was on in the hotel that night which ensured I didn't get... more
