Rosemary O'Connell operates a superb B&B in Killarney within easy walking of the downtown area. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfasts are delicious, and (best of all) Rosemary is a delightful host. A good place to use as a base to explore southwest Ireland.

This was my second visit to Oaklawn House, and it was like being welcomed by an old friend. Rosemary, our hostess, does so much to make it feel comfy in our home away from home. Oaklawn is within walking distance to shopping and horse cart ride tours, and plenty of good places to eat. I would recommend Oaklawn to anyone planning to spend a few nights visiting Killarney.....and tell Rosemary hello from Lin!

Centrally located in Killarney. A very beautiful location, with very nice comfortable rooms. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, with everyone's plates being prepared to order. Really a great site for the city of Killarney

We were able to stay two nights and thoroughly enjoyed Oaklawn. Concerned initially that there had been no recent reviews but after meeting our host, she was full of charm and very accommodating. She treats you to a full breakfast and lively conversation, inquiring about your day. Ask her about her letter from Pres.Reagan.

When we arrived in Killarney we came from a different direction and just missed it as the access road looks like a driveway so we turned around and bam it was there. Oaklawn House is tucked back in on a keyhole type of street so it is very quiet yet just a short walk to the City Center of Killarney. We liked the fact that we did not have to drive anymore the first night there as all the excitement was a short walk away. Our Hostess, Rosemarie, is a very warm and delightful women and an excellent cook as the breakfasts were to order, fresh and tasty. Our room was up in the back and was comfortable and very quiet. This is a perfect place to base yourself to enjoy the City of Killarney and surrounds. Thanks Rosemarie!

6 Jul Beautiful B&B with a fabulous cooked to order breakfast. Hospitality is the byword at Oaklawn. Close to downtown, yet tucked snugly out of the way off the main road. Can be challenging to find, but worth the hunt for this treasure. Hint, the side road to the B&B is located directly across the road from the Amber petrol station. Our hostess was thoughtful and kind. We hope to return, but until that fine day I highly recommend this wonderful B&B.

This B & B presents well and yet our room was a bit dated. Spacious and clean and quiet. Ensuite.. Short walk to town so perfect to park the car and take a horse and buggy! Breakfast was good and hostess was friendly and chatty.

We were very early when we arrived but were told we could leave our luggage at the B&B until check in time. When we asked to use the bathroom before we went out into Killarney, the lady-of-the-house told us she only had bathrooms in the guest rooms and they were all taken and not leaving until 11am. We could use the toilet at the garage at the end of the street. My grandson needed the bathroom so we left for the garage; there were no bathrooms at the garage. We walked around Killarney until we found one in another hotel, of all places. Not a very hospitable B&B I would say. We returned at 11 am and asked if there was a sitting room we could wait in until the rooms were ready and were told no, there were none, she had to "hoover" the whole house. Of course we found a very comfortable sitting room at the front of the house after we were settled in our rooms. The breakfast left much to be desired; I could not eat the sausages or the bacon. We were never asked how we would like our eggs; we were simply given 2 eggs over cooked with a thin slice of ham that was dry and sausages that tasted like cheap hotdogs. The rooms were sparse and drab, the soap very small and shampoo limited; the towel rack falling off the wall. I had to push it back into the wall each time I took a towel off. Would not recommend this B&B at all. There are so many lovely ones all over Ireland we have experienced. After reading the review of "Jean0403" I cannot imagine what B&B stayed in.

Enjoyed our stay with Rosemary so very much. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and I would certainly stay there again. Amazed to see palm trees in Ireland, but there they were in Rosemary's garden!

Stayed here as we wanted an extra night after a wedding. Lovely warm welcome and as we arrived early rosemary offered to take our bags until the room was ready. She showed us the rooms however no information was given as to check out time and payments. Room was clean apart from stains at the end of the bed sheets which we did not discover until the morning and also found a hair on one of the towels (did not personally bother me but I do expect better from an award winning b&b). Furniture needs updated as the tv was perched on top of a wardrobe and headboard was loose. Shower was pleasant and hot however the sink was very small and washing my face was not easy. Walls were thin as I could hear the person next door snoring and in the morning the opening and closing of doors woke me up. Went for breakfast at 8:30 and was greeted by Rosemary and offered tea/coffee, toast and was shown the cereals and juices. However we were not asked what we would like for our cooked breakfast and I had to ask if I could have no meat as I am a vegetarian. The breakfast was ok not very big. Went to check out but the b&b has no card machine so I had to go into town to get money out (very annoying, would have preferred if she told me this at breakfast or on our arrival). Cheap for the location it is in but could definitely do with some interior improvements and customer service improvements. Rosemary was very kind and made us feel very welcome.
