We selected this Guest House based on its location slightly outside of the overly touristy town of Killarney and its proximity to Killarney National Park. As walkers, we wanted access to the Muckross area without parking hassles and competition with tour buses. We also wanted a quiet location and non-fussy atmosphere without compromising comfort and quality. Friar's Glen Guest House... more
Pure luck when we (me, my wife and two kids, nearly 5 and 7 years old) were looking for a home for a couple of nights. We nearly drove past but i decided to find out, whats at the end of this beautiful gateway. We were both very surprised about this wonderful place to stay and the warm hearted welcome.... more
This is a beautiful B&B and one of the only ones that actually sits in the National Park itself. We had a huge room on the ground floor with a big bathroom, and table and chairs, a desk, an armchair, a closet, and a double bed and twin bed. The rooms are so comfortable, you won't want to leave-- except... more
Fantastic in all respects if you prefer peace and quiet to the hustle and bustle of the town. Great views, peaceful setting, very comfortable, clean, spacious rooms, lovely open fire with books to peruse, fanatastic choice of breakfasts. Mary the owner and Bridget made our stay all the more enjoyable by helping us plan our days to maximise on what the... more
We have recently returned from a 3 night stay at this delightful accommodation. From the moment I received my first e mail I was sure that this was going to be a great place to stay! We were not disappointed! Friar's Glen is a beautiful house, in a lovely setting and is run by Mary and John. Mary made us... more
We've just had a wonderful stay in Killarney and will be returning to the area & stay at the Friar's Glen. John & Mary Fuller run a beautiful country house with lovely grounds, generously-sized ensuite guestrooms & a delicious breakfast. We travelled with our 5yr old daughter & they were very accommodating, they even allowed us to check-in at 9am... more
Tea on arrival and a long chat about the area with Mary was very nice and very helpful. Dinner at the Lake Hotel is a must - the best view you can imagine (straight out at the lit up ruins of a castle or turret with the lake directly behind it). A hike up Torc Mountain before breakfast, then a... more
My wife and I were planning to spend the second half of our Ireland vacation on the Iveragh peninsula and wanted to stay around Killarney. We found Friar's Glen online in our search for a B&B close to the National Park. I made reservations for our two nights' stay online through the website without a hitch. Accommodations don't get much... more
We spent 4 nights at this Bed and Breakfast and found it to be great. We were welcomed with tea and biscuits by Bridget and some great advice as to what to see. The kindness of Mary and Bridget was second to none and the food was to die for. We cant begin to express how wonderful it was to... more
