This hostel is down the valley through The Gap of Dunloe - the drive to & from the hostel makes it 5 Star!! Quiet, clean, good hot shower, wifi....ticks all the boxes for a peaceful stay. Beautiful part of Ireland.

We stayed in the Black Valley Hostel for one night on a trip with my Transition Year Class. The hostel was perfect for our needs. There was four rooms with bunk beds, a kitchen, a TV room and several bathrooms. There is free Wifi and the password is posted on the wall. Phone reception is bad in the upstairs rooms,... More

We stayed there for 1 night. We got double private room. It was very clean and cosy. The challenge was to get there as the roads are more bike friendly. One remark:protect yourself against midges during the summer time.Strongly recommend this place to everybody who want to disconnect from the matrix.

Nice hostel, but not one of the friendliest. This was the only hostel in County Kerry that we stayed in that charged extra for linens- 1 sheet and a pillow case. Toilets and showers were very nice. Everything was very clean. Water was not potable so we had to purify to use.

9 of us stayed there for one night. Hostel is located in the middle of nowhere and that is the good thing. It is very quiet over there and the area is amazing. Mountains, lake and narrow, windy road. For drivers is a true gem. We got two rooms. Bunk beds were comfy. Rooms were clean. We could not get... More

This lovely hostel is really in the middle of nowhere and the internet description for the hostel did not convey the impression that it is deep in the valley. We saw only one sign coming from Beaufort and it is not for the good people urging us on in the right direction, we would probably have turned back. Still, the... More

Nice hostel then, glad to reach it after walking 24km from killarney. Pretty basic but satisfactory. Be careful when You book, they dont have their own website, so the best thing is to call them, because they do have double rooms, which we didn't know... There is à grocery store in the hostel, very convenient and not that expensive actually.... More

Two friends and I down from Tyrone to climb, walk, and relax. The owner and his wife very friendly, helpful and laid back. we stayed four nights. The location may be a bit isolated but we had a car and brought supplies with us. If you are looking to get away from the rat-race,shopping and crowds and take in some... More

We were there in May bank holiday weekend. We couldn't find it at first, because I thought Black Valley is just the name. But it was in Black Valley - one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. Just beside Carrantuohill. Hostel is just refurbished and is in really good condition. Was just a little bit too cold, but only... More
