This was our 2nd stay, the first in April 2009. Ann, the host, is so much fun – she’s no-nonsense, dedicated, and incredibly helpful, with a sharp wit. She’s got a great wealth of information about Galway. She recommended two good dinner choices for us (McSwiggan’s and High Café). Ann also made sure we had a place to park at... More

We essentially got a room in a converted attic and thus a average person couldn't stand up straight in 70% of the room. The same goes for the shower, it was built for a dwarf and I could not stand under it, no reasonably sized person could. Very basic and clean but considering the value we got in a nearby... More

We spent four nights here and it was very handy to city centre. Anne is very helpful and welcoming however we found space in the room to be very limited. There are no shelves or drawers to put items away and Mrs. needed an extension cord to get her hair dryer and curling iron near a mirror. Outside is littered... More

I arrived shortly before 3pm. The proprietor opening the door and asked "what happened to 1 o'clock?" (A time she had told me the previous day that the room would be ready from.) She followed this by asking what was the point in having a phone if I wasn't going to answer it. The atmosphere was both awkward and strange.... More

Ann is a real character - welcoming host with lots of spunk. Good breakfast. We liked the location in West Belfast as it was good for nightlife (the bars are less touristy on once you get out of the downtown area on the other side of the river). We had booked an en-suite room and the bathroom was private but... More

Griffin Lodge is nothing fancy but it does everything one should expect from a moderately priced B&B and more. The rooms are fine -- not luxurious but spotless. The location is ideal - quiet but a short walk from the hubub of Galway and its pubs. Ann is incredibly friendly and helpful. When I had to leave before breakfast, she... More

So far from home back in Perth, Australia. Yet we felt like we just stayed with family. What an absolutely incredible find...Anne you were such a Joy, above and beyond to make my husband and I feel so welcome. The room was perfect, plenty of space for 2, wifi was fast and breakfast was lovely. Thank you again for a... More

There are many great things about Griffin Lodge --- its location (easy walk into the medieval part of town), how quiet it is, its proximity to the best restaurants in Galway, its excellent breakfasts, its clean rooms. But the best is Ann, the heart of the place. She greets you warmly, serves you breakfast with a smile, shows real interest in... More

We absolutely loved the Griffin Lodge and Ann was the best innkeeper & hostess! She printed our boarding passes, acquainted us to her great city, cooked us terrific food, helped me charge my phone overnight, and was all around charming and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend the Lodge. It was very convenient to the city; only a few blocks walk... More

The Griffin Lodge Guesthouse lives off the good spirit of Anne. She is extremely forthcoming and helpful and tries to make everything possible. The rooms are very small and barely have space enough to move around. In our room, we couldn't walk around the bed, because we had to cramp our luggage in there. Anyway, it's very clean and the...
