First hostel in my life, I was a bit apprehensive but my fears went away when I discovered the bedroom (12beds) and the 2 bathrooms. They were very clean, and comfy. The mattress was better than my student accomodation' one haha. The personal is kind. Wifi connexion everywhere in the building, " living room " with computers, tv, games, books...... More

I stayed at Quay Street House for one night because my sister left earlier than me. It's really really in the middle of the city centre, couldn't be better located and the staff is very friendly and printed my boarding card for free when I asked for some copy shop. There are plug sockets for EVERY bed and the bathroom... More

Loved my stay here - located in the heart of Quay Street, 5 minutes from the Spanish arch and surrounded by so much activity. The dorms are clean and well-appointed - clean bathrooms - reception staff are friendly and super helpful! Recommended that I go to Kelly's for breakfast and even gave me a discount card for it - amazing... More

Undoubtedly the best location, in an amazing town. A bit noisy during the night, but usually you're out enjoying yourself and making noise along with everyone else!! Very clean, secure, and comfortable environment. The staff were super friendly and really helpful too.

I am a long term guest and have found the hostel to be very welcoming and comfortable, great sized kitchen and if you don't feel like cooking there's many great restaurants right beside it. The staff has been wonderful and the rooms are kept pretty clean. Great hostel!

About 10 of us stayed at the hostel, just as somewhere to crash for the night after a stag do. The location is the best and worst thing about it, it's right smack bang in the middle of everything, a disaster if you want an early night or a decent nights sleep. However, most of us returned after 3am and... More

I stayed in Galway for 4 days during May 2014 during a trek through Ireland. Barnacles is in an excellent central location, with restaurants and bars located just outside the door. Friendly staff, and a nice kitchen facility. The room I stayed in was a bit stuffy, but the beds were comfortable. The bathroom and shower was also kept clean.... More

We got the private room for two. It was a great location -- right down in the middle of the busy, loud, cool area in Galway. The place was quiet from outside noise since it's in an ancient building. However, expect typical hostel-fare on the inside -- lots of loud kids, a pretty mediocre and picked-over breakfast, grungy feel. Great... More
