From the start Helena and Pat were very welcoming and were wonderful hosts throughout our stay. The breakfast was excellent ,The room clean and tidy and the facilities were good. They were both very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and good restaraunts. The location was great: a peaceful area and an easy ten minutes walk to the town... more

We stayed here almost a week when I came to Galway for a conference at NUIG with my husband. Helena and Pat are very sweet and accomodating as B&B owners. Helena arranged an Aran Islands ferry for us, Pat got us a taxi and gave restaurant advice, and they made a great breakfast. Unfortunately, Helena couldn't keep us for one... more

Pat and Helena have a lovely little flower-bedecked town house in a small, secluded, walled area just off a minor road just outside the centre of Galway city. You can reach the city centre in about 10 minutes or so by walking down a road leading past some school playing fields and crossing a river and a canal further down.... more

While we never actually stayed at Clochard, I want to WARN everyone about doing business with them. We were booked in Killarney prior to our visit to Galway and we had the horrendous experience of being bitten with BED BUGS! We immediately went to a hotel. After a discussion we were afraid to risk another bed and breakfast because apparently... more

A last minute booking but well worth it. About a 10 minute walk from Galway city center. Enough to get you warmed up. Pat was a great, jovial host. No frills at this place but none are needed. Breakfast was great.. more

This is a really nice guest house with fabulous food (huge portions!), helpful and friendly staff and proprietors. It's clean, tidy and very homely - I can't believe the last poster had such a bad time! OK, so it's a few minutes walk to the city centre but it's a nice residential area and we felt completely safe, even when... more

I completely disagree with the person that said they found the owners unfriendly and presented a list of don'ts. I'm even wondering if they stayed at the same place. I stayed recently and found an extremely friendly atmosphere, warm and welcoming. Also the b&b is in a perfect location for exploring Galway and the wider Westcoast. I wouls thoroughly recommend... more

I already made many trips to Ireland and I already visite a few b&b's. Clochard home is the best one. I recommend it if you're planning to visit the environment of Galway; I already visit this b&b 4 times and I'm still going back. I visit the place with several people and they have all the same feeling .Helena and... more

We made a lst minute decision to visit Ireland as we had never been there before, we had no idea what to expect or even what to do. A week of touring around the place was the plan we decided to explore the west coast, we drove to Galway and wandered round the Charming city finally coming across Clochard B... more
