This place was really great- affordable with great breakfasts and the ability to live like a Dubliner. When I travel I like to feel like a member of the place where I am going and the Hydra House satisfied this fully: a ten minute bus ride to the City Center with friendly people and the fun of living in a... I am no stranger to Ireland and have been there several times before. This was my first visit to Hydra House in this year in July 2013 and it wont be my last.It beats anywhere else i have ever stayed, including the Raddison Hotel in Dublin. From the first welcome to the last goodbye it was a pleasure to stay... More

This was my first trip to Ireland and I booked this B&B through the "Go Ireland" website. I'm so glad I stayed at Hydra House! The hosts, John & Mary, made us feel so welcome (we were treated more like family than guests) and gave us so much useful information about Dublin - local bus timetables, places to eat locally,... This was my very first experience staying in a B&B and it couldn't have been any better. The O'Connor's are the nicest couple you could EVER meet. The are a blast to talk to and they welcome you in to their B&B like you are family not guests. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The bus to Dublin is right... More

I stayed here on a recent visit to Dublin, it was an ideal location for Croke Park and the Botanical Gardens. The hosts John and Mary were very friendly and helful with directions and taxis. The Irish breakfast was as good as I could get anywhere. Well worth the money.

John and Mary run an excellent b&b near the Irish National Botanical Garden. The house is historic and beautiful, the breakfast they served was hearty and delicious, and they were ever ready to give helpful advice about the city. The rooms are a tad cold at night but the beds have more than ample blankets and quilts to keep you... More

This was one of the worst bed and breakfast we have ever stayed. Unclean and no offer of breakfast on a 7am start the following morning. Don't even think about it.

I have stayed at John and Mary O'Connor's Hydra House several times and will continue to do so in the future. They are always available for sightseeing and/or shopping advice; are willing to go the extra mile should any emergency arise, and offer fine and filling breakfasts. Hydra House is on a quiet street, not far from the Botanical Gardens,... More

Was a very sweet B&B to have stayed at. Went with my husband to be and parents. The owners were very very very nice and treated us amazingly great. One problem was the pressure in the showers but this was rapidly arranged as the owner went and bought us a new shower thingy. Very good price for the service and... More
