Yes, rooms have been renewed but all the building is dirty, noisy and with no attention to details. I asked for earplugs because of the noise of the pub downstairs. Breakfast is very poor. No buffet. If you don't wan the Full Irish one, staff is lost. Just toast and jam. The only good thing is location: very close to... More

First opinion was oh dear not too good. But never judge a book by its cover. The exterior was drab and entry was by entry phone. Short flight of stairs to be greater by delightful Bernie. A local lady who was lovely, friendly and very helpfull. We were given our key to our room on the second floor. The room was... More

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. We arrived two hours early from our flight, Our luggage was taken care of and we were offered breakfast and our room was instantly cleaned, so that when we got back from breakfast it was all ready for us. I am a performer and was over for music gigs... More

Check in wasn't until 2pm but they kept back our bags, staff member not friendly. Checked in at 10pm, different staff member friendly and helpful but only 1st floor rooms available (which is noisy due to bar underneath which is open until 12pm the night we stayed which was a Tuesday). Fully recommend reserving either 2nd or 3rd floor room... More

The hotel is a cheap choice in the centre of Dublin, however it is a bit run-down. It is rumorous, my room was big but not very clean; There was only a very small window which could not be closed properly at night and no blankets to cover the bed with. The best thing of all is breakfast which is... More

Where do I start with this place?? It is beyond me how some reviewers gave this place more than 3 stars but I guess that just goes to show you that everyone is different and looks for different things in a hotel. First, the pros: - Central location and handy for airport buses - Wifi worked well when able to... More

Firstly please try to make the entrance more obvious to your guests. We had to ask a passer by how to get in. The location of the hotel was perfect for a city break and the room was ideal, clean, good bathroom. Tea and coffee facilities were not good. What on earth is 'Barry's Tea?' The major gripe is that... More

Arrived at the gate hotel- throughthe rock bar, which was worrying for my poor boyfriend who sheepishly looked at me as if to say 'what have you done?!'. Turns out the hotel above is completely different. checked in and shown to our room. The place was very clean, the room was a little small but not a problem for us... More

Amazing breakfast served at the pub next-door. Otherwise a pretty basic hotel. Wifi didn't work all the time, but the location is good. Rooms are quite small. A lot of noise comes from the pub in the evenings but apparently they have earplugs down at the reception.

Just come back from a weekend in Dublin staying at The Gate. The outside looks very dismal but don't be put off...... We were very early and couldn't book in until 2pm, but they let us leave our luggage there so we could continue to look around. When we checked in the rooms where very clean, all clean bedding and...
