I've just returned from my second stay at the Generator Hostel in Dublin; my first time was last October. Both trips I stayed in a six-bed female dorm on the second floor for 4 nights. The first time I was travelling solo and the second time I met a friend there. On my most recent trip I arrived after midnight... More

I stayed here for 1 night in July as I wanted somewhere cheap as I was on my own. The bar and lounge areas are fab and the staff on reception were very helpful. I really like the location as it was near the bus stops for both the airlink and the hop on hop off bus. Plus there was... More

We stayed here for 5 nights, in a private room ensuite. The room itself is ok, although I think they could add a few hangers, a shelf and a safe. The shower is good but the bathroom overall was not so clean as I expected. But what annoys me beyond no end is the fact that you cannot bring food... More

I had a great stay here but a few things could be improved. There was no soap and hand drying towel provided in the on suite bathrooms. Also there was no floor towel which meant that the floor was wet ( 6 people staying in the room). When i bought a coffee from the downstairs cafe I asked for an... More

Dear Patch, Thanks for you review. Great to hear you had a great stay. We only provide towels and soap in the twins and doubles however they are both available to rent and buy at the reception. I will look into your comment re: the extra shot of coffee and come up with a solution. Again thank you for your... More

Stayed here July 12th/13th 2014 as part of a large party (28) of guys who were here for a stag do. Hostels generally make you think of run down, dirty rooms only booked for their cheap rates, well this was cheap but was far from run down or dirty. The building itself was pretty cool & only a short walk... More

Hi Marty, Thanks for taking the time to post your very detailed review, great to give other fellow travellers your take on Generator. Great to hear you would choose us over a hotel. I would like to apologise that you felt the staff lacked concentration on the desk, I will share this with the front of house team so we... More

Just returned from my trip and stayed two nights at the generator. It was amazing to say the least, it was extremely clean, the staff so friendly and helpful, I felt safe and the food was priced well and at a great quality. Had easy to access wifi and awesome events. Like the World Cup viewing part. Oh. My. God.... More

Some of the nicest people I've ever come across. Hospitality at its finest! I cannot express my gratitude for how much these people helped us. We had a great time, and their above and beyond attitude towards their jobs are what truly surprised me.

Generator Hostel is in a great location in the city of Dublin. Easy to reach via bus from the airport. The staff is always available and very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really great and the rooms were incredible - spacious, modern and very clean. For a hostel, Generator was really 5-star and could even compare with hotel rooms.... More

I stayed in a mixed dorm room of six. Very basic, sink, bunk beds and under the bed storage space - exactly what you need and would expect from a hostel. Clean, gender separated washing facilities on the floor below me. The vibe is fun and quirky, it is a very modern and funky hostel!
