I wasn't looking for a 5 star hotel so when I actually checked in I was surprised it wasn't that bad for a 2star accommodation! Lobby is great, room were tidy, bed very comfy, bathroom ok was supplied every day. Yes the room might do with a little update but it didn't bother me at all. Staff were very friendly,... More

No heating in January! No kettle!!????? A 1970's 14 inch TV and the remote didn't work properly. Staff we're alright but hardly that friendly. If they spent more on the rooms than the decoration of the lobby, it could be a nice hotel. Didn't try breakfast, felt it would have been another thing to have been disappointed with. The shower... €428 for 2 nights (30 and 31 December) for 2 was a rip off. Poor value for money. Breakfast was ok. Double bed old, squeaky and uncomfortable. Furniture old and rickety No tea and coffee facilities in the room. Ready made coffee and tea available in reception. No hairdryer. Bath towels very small. TV very old with poor picture quality... Despite several negative comments we appreciated the place and enjoyed our stay with family. People are friendly and available. For sure this is not a brand new hotel but it was what we are looking for...authentic, a kind of legacy atmosphere... on the pace of Joyce!

There's nothing I can add to what already has been said here and I don't think the management cares about their guests or what they think otherwise they would have already made an effort to better things. I don't mean the flights of stairs (75 steps to the rooms on 2nd floor) or the dated bathroom or the furniture falling... More

After reading the reviews on here I was dreading going here but needn't have worried!! Rooms are clean and beds are so comfy, bathroom could be updated but also clean, bit of a trek up 3 flights of stairs. Breakfast offered what you'd expect cereals, etc but think cooked breakfast could be improved by offering more e.g soda bread, beans,... More

My wife and I stayed at the Barry's Hotel 11 & 12 November 2015 We arrived early and asked if we could leave our case and bag until our room was ready and Siobhan at the reception said there was a room already available for us which was great. We then went for lunch and a walk round the tourist... More

stayed here on 3 occasions, this year the hotel has seen some very good renovating work done to it, so handy to a number of locations and within walking distance to all the shopping areas. staff are friendly, rooms are warm and clean, wot else do you need.
