I'm a tour guide and yes, if you want something generic with a lift, forget Barry's. I stayed here to relax. The room was a double, nicely decorated and the view of the old Dublin of James Joyce and Brendan Behan. Barry's consists of two 18th century houses, but as I climbed upstairs with two suitcases, a man appeared to... More

Hotel is really poor. I picked it because it was cheap and had a bar and pool table. Bar opened at 5 and sold bottles of bud. Yes just one beer nothing else at all. As for the pool table there was none. The pictures are old. The pool table went years ago I was told. The room was falling... More

I've stayed in Barry's hotel for a business trip, I personally think that is totally overpriced. I had a double room for my self and i could barely move inside, the bathroom was very small and i had also difficulties accessing the shower as the gap in between the wall and the shower door was probably 40cm. the only good... I wanted a hotel which had some history - so I could 'feel' the essence of Dublin. This gorgeous Georgian hotel is in a great hand position to everything I needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Yes - the hotel has seen better days - yet I love hotels like this as they have character. I was so... More

Decided to stay at Barry's for the location, and that couldn't be faulted but that is about where it stopped.. Arrived early, before check in and the receptionist was helpful and gave us a room straight away as we was tired from the early start, room was on the 3rd floor then up a few more stairs, it was room... Stayed here in June for my birthday. On check in, hotel seemed very run down and quite frankly grim. The shower ran cold, we were then told to leave it running, 15mins later we had a warm water trickle! The room was very neglected and needed some serious TLC. Extremely pricey for bare basic hotel.

I wish I had read the reviews first, but I extended my stay in Dublin and needed to find a hotel on short notice. I was there for work, but had no wifi in my room. There was no coffee pot or hot water pot in the room. I had just come from a cheaper and much nicer place one... More

I was very disappointed by my recent experience staying overnight at this hotel. The tv channels were extremely limited and even RTE 1 could not be accessed by the night manager! The shower was inadequate and the internal phones had been disconnected so I had to go up and down 2 flights of stairs every time I had a query... More
