Awful, totally and utterly hideous! The room was huge with 4 beds and that really is the only positive thing I can say. Dirty bed linen and towels, a room over the bar so terribly noisy and the smell of cigarettes came in from the adjoining room. Felt like something off an episode of Shameless crossed with Fawlty Towers, just... More

Had a fantastic 2 nights at the Portobello Hotel in Dublin, which I booked through laterooms at only £30 per night for a double with ensuite. Arrived at hotel at 10am and left our suitcases in the office so we could enjoy our first day before checking in. Room was great, lovely comfy bed, clean white sheets, 4 large pillows,... More

It was late in the evening on Easter Sunday and our original accommodation had fallen through, so we were stuck for a place to stay. I popped onto my phone and searched all the usual places, without success- until I rang the Portobello hotel. They said they could provide a room, €55 for the night: a fairly okay price. We... More

Arrived at the Portobello Hotel on March 12, 2012 for 2 nights. Took a little to find- went on a local bus and was let off a couple of blocks away. I checked and read between the lines from tripadvisor reviews. So I knew it was a decent hotel, but location I wasn't sure. Valentino was very nice at check-in... More

Stayed in January with a friend on a budget trip to Dublin. Nice staff: everyone at the reception was kind and helpful. Quite good size room and overall clean, even if you can see it's not a new hotel. They gave us a room over the street so a bit noisy (but not a big deal for us). Quite near... More

Had a function on in the Hilton which is only a block away. Stayed in the Portobello. Excellent value. Room very clean. Had all the necessities even a hair dryer. Tea/Coffee facility. Needed extra milk following morning and very helpful foreign lady kindly gave me what I needed. Lovely location overlooking the canal. Very quiet.

Stayed here Oct'11. 1.We were met by an extremely arrogant receptionist, he definitely thought he was something he wasn't i.e THE OWNER. 2.Rooms where clean and tidy, but when asked by Housekeeper (foreign Woman) if we needed the room cleaned, we declined but asked for EXTRA towels we were told there was no more even though there was a trolley... We booked two rooms back in April for 5 nights. I requested two rooms that faced the canal. Valentino Popa confirmed that we would have two canal facing rooms via email. When we arrived, we were prepared for the parking situation. We found street parking right in front of the property. Upon check in, we were given two rooms on... More

Portobello hotel is o.k. when you are staying in Dublin and ýou don't want to spend too much money on accommodation. The ensuite room was all right. Friendly staff. Breakfast was reasonable. Parking at the hotel is a problem, paid parking + limited to three hours, so you have to ask the receptionist to fill the meter when you are... More

The Portobello is located close to the Charlemont Luas stop along the Grand Canal. They have a secure door that you talk to reception to gain entry. The guy on reception is on the ball, he had the door buzzed as we got out of the taxi at 3.30am in the morning! We were checked in efficiently and got a... More
