The Montrose hotel is nice but has seen better days. However, having said that I would recommend it. It was clean and the staff was very nice. Breakfast was good and the pub food was OK. This hotel is a nice alternative if you need a more moderate priced hotel and want to be a quick bus ride into Dublin.... more

Once again, I stayed here for two nights on as part of a tour. The hotel was very clean and the room was very nice. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Dublin. I think the cab ride from Temple St was pretty reasonable in terms of cost. The room was clean and the size was good considering there... more

Stayed here in October 2006 en route to a concert. While the hotel is a little old fashioned compared to many Dublin hotels and a good bit out of the city, its pleasant and nice. There is parking for residents but not much of it. The room was large and though a little old fashioned not unpleasant, very very good... more

I have stayed in the montrose on at least 5 occasions now. that speaks for itself!! I like this hotel while a little old style if offers good value. Rooms are average (But how much time do you spend in your room!!!)Depending on where your room is located it can be a little noisy at night. The bar is lovely... more

Stayed here due to attending a conference at UCD - and it is certainly a good location for that, being only 5 minutes walk away. That means it is 3 miles from the city centre although it is well served by air coach from the airport. Unfortunately the hotel is in need of some serious renovation. The windows facing the... more

It's right next to UCD -- you can walk across the street to campus. But that means that there isn't much else around, so if you want to go out for lunch or coffee, it's a schlep. The room was serviceable, but there were little glitches. For instance, it took me a day and some help to figure out how... more

Attending event at UCD so this seemed the perfect choice with walking distance. However it is not with walking distance of anything else though! Getting off the excellant aircoach, immediately my heart sank to see a grim looking hotel. The service was poor, dealing with staff was given priority over guests! The real clux of it was UCD have the... more

We stayed here for 1 night only and it was long enough. The rooms are very standard and clean. The staff are so unfriendly they made us feel so unwelcome. When having the breakfast they were taking our plates before we had even finished thought they were going to pull the chair from us at 1 stage. The bar staff... more

Brakfast (for a vegetarian) was limited, but the soda bread was excellent. Dinner and lunch were both excellent (though, again, limited for vegetarians). The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The only catch is its distance from Dublin Centre (it's opposite University College, well to the south of the city). more

I and four others stayed here for one night whilst attending a seminar at UCD and whilst the hotel could benefit from a facelift, it is a still good value. What was appreciated was the plesent and friendly staff (rare enough these days). The rooms were dated but larger than most modern hotels we've stayed in and paid lots more... more
