My wife and I won a weekend break at The Hibernian courtsey of Coca Cola, and whilst we had a nice stay, I'm very glad that we did not pay for it ourselves! The hotel is in dire need of a complete overhall, although the basic original features are very attractive. Our room was large, but again, it needed refurbished,... more

The bedrooms in this hotel are horrendous. They have not been refurbished for at least 20 years - curtains are literally decomposing. The rooms are dismal and depressing. The hotel, which still trades under the name 'Wingate Hibernian Hotel' was actually thrown out of the Wingate franchise last year - for obvious reasons when you see the place. It was... more

We did our trip to Ireland on the internet. Every hotel we stayed at was what it showed on the computer, except the Hibernian in Balls bridge, Dublin. We knew we wouldn't get a suite, but we did expect the room as shown. What we got was shabby furniture and torn curtins. It was clean, but we were so taken... more

I stayed here in early December 2004 - it was close to where I needed to be for business and looked nice on the Internet. But from the moment I arrived there were disasters that were compounded by inept staff. After a long flight I needed to get cleaned up, but when I arrived in early afternoon there was no... more

Chose this hotel largely on basis of "Small Luxury Hotel" accreditation. It may have deserved this years ago , but certainly not last weekend when I stayed with my daugter. Unhelpful inexperienced reception staff, a poor room with ragged and grimy curtains, and a very expensive breakfast with dismal service. Never again more

We picked this hotel because it looked a like an elegant hotel, with high-class rooms, available in "non-smoking" variety. However, on our late-ish arrival (10pm) we were given room 202 - the top two floors are smoking floors, only level 1 is non-smoking. Room 202 smelt like an old ash-tray, and was really quite unpleasant. Sadly the hotel was more... more

We chose this hotel because it looked lovely and its past record sounded good. The room (101) was a good size but the furnishings were a bit shabby and the loo was reluctant to work. The public rooms were in good condition and we thought that a gradual revamp might be underway. Some overloud businessmen caused us a little discomfort... more

Last week, 12 of us went to Dublin on a corporate 'do' and stayed at the Hibernian. You would think that with 12 people there are different opinions but all of us loved it!!! The location is great, just off a lively main road with lots of cafe's, shops, restaurants and pubs. It is 15 mins walk to Stephens Green... more

A brisk 15 minute walk from St Stephen's Green it was not quite as central we'd been led to believe. The communal areas were very pleasant maintaining the Georgian theme, although the grandest lounge was reserved for smokers. The staff were generally helpful. The room we were offered was "non-smoking" but obviously smelt of tobacco. There was also noisy machinery... more

We arrived at the Hibernian Hotel after fleeing an unsuitable guesthouse, so my love for the place might seem over the top. The staff was very agreeable. Our rooms (we had a third-floor corner room with sitting area, connecting to another room with two twin beds and another seating area) were exceptional and spacious. I did see that some of... more
