Just around the corner of Aungier St, close to a great area of pubs and clubs. Avalon House is a decent hostel with decent rooms and average breakfast. Better choices to be chosen from the cafeteria but you have to pay extra for croissants, better coffee, etc. They have public computers to use and receptionists are friendly and helpful.

I've stayed in a few hostels before, hostels in Dublin too. This wasn't the best but wasn't the worst. We had a private room with a private bathroom. We did have fresh towels & an extension lead as there was only 2 plugs which was a pain for phone charging and hair drying ect - they do lend you a... More

This is the third year of IAESTE Ireland booking a room in Avalon for our Dublin Cultural weekend. For a two night stay the hostel is in a great location, has a great chilled out vibe and the loft style of the rooms always draws good remarks. The beds are clean and more comfortable than a lot of other hostel... More

Pros: - Great location, about 10/15min walk from city centre - Clean (except the last night when someone had thrown up all over the bathroom) - Wi fi worked in the rooms Cons - Rooms were TINY - Not enough power points (two plugs between four people) - Showers were weird - had to keep pushing a button for the... The Avalon House has a good location and the staff is friendly. It provides Tablets for your personal use. But the Hostel is not nice. It is anonymous, not sociable. If you want the backpack Hostel feeling, try find something else. If you want to stay for yourself, go here. Definitely not worth the money, better than nothing.

My friend and I are on a two-month long Europe trip and this was our first stop. While we were here we enjoyed our stay, however after being to a few other hostels we've concluded that although it wasn't bad it wasn't particularly great either. There are no lockers in or anywhere in the room. This makes it a hassle... More

Nice clean hostel, friendly staff - Location is great in heart of the city! Groovy Decor. Hostel also runs a free walking tour of dublin at 10:20 every morning but didnt get a chance to check it out and They also do a pubcrawl. Cafe linked to it where you can get a nice breakfast.

Great location, just 15/20 mins walk from the city centre. Hostel was very basic but clean and tidy, staff helpful and friendly and from all nationalities. really nice independent cafe attached. Breakfast basic, but did the job. Can rent storage/luggage space for €2 per day. As for the room itself, very basic but clean and comfortable! The shower was annoying... More

Stayed one night for a concert in Dublin. No complaints whatsoever, perfect for what we wanted. The staff were very accommodating when we asked to all stay in the same room (4 bed). Free Wi-Fi in the room is a huge plus.

This friendly hostel has a cute cafe and tiny rooms that are comfy. Our private double had a sink. Despite a pretty scary elevator, the kitchen, cafe and the rest of the hostel were pefect for a quick stay and cheap eats. However, the hot water here is some eco-friendly nonsense (maybe solar, if I remember right). You press the... More
