The in-house cafe has now been replaced with “Avalon Coffee House” (which I believe is run by the youth hostel themselves rather than previously leased out to the "Bald Barista"). It’s such a disappointment each time I’ve been there – milk left out is sometimes sour and coffees are not as good. Some of the staff also seem slightly “dishonest”,... More

This is not a professional way of doing business I stayed to attend a conference. Had already booked two nights and was intending to stay another one. I left the hostel before 10 in the morning and confirmed with the staff to stay another night, left all my things in the room. When I came home, my things were thrown... More

One word describes this place - Friendly. To the n-th degree. The staff at the reception became the very best friends, always helpful, always with a smile. The dining area is great as well, had innumerable discussions over some great food. Made friends from across the world.....The beds are nice and the linen and duvets are changed on a daily... More

Me and my friend stayed here for a night in spring 2014. The staff was great and very helpful! Our room was a lot bigger and cleaner than we were expecting, however there was only one tiny window, so the room was dark pretty much all the time. The shower and bathroom facilities weren't the cleanest, but they were okay... More

The check out time is pretty early but overall it was a pretty good experience. The staff were nice, the place was clean and the beds we surprisingly comfy! I would be careful next time to call in advance if I was checking in with a friend, to ensure that we get two beds together!

Myself snd 3 friends stayed here in the 31st oct for one night. This is the 3rd time i have stopped here. The location to the city centre is only a 5minute walk and it has a bus stop right outside to take you to the airport. We where in a room for 4 which suited us and we had... More

Avalon was a great, central hostel within short walking distance of Trinity College, Guinness storehouse, temple bars, bus stations...everything you could want. The rooms and bathrooms were extremely clean and well-maintained. It was the largest hostel I've stayed in, but the rooms were surprisingly private and mostly quiet. It was a good deal for a Dublin hostel. I also appreciated... More

Room was clean and neat. Guests were quiet. It was in a safe and fun part of Dublin, super easy to get anywhere by foot or bus. Front desk workers were very helpful. Free breakfast. Nicely decorated. Only negative things were that the elevator kept going out of function, and the showers smelled weird. All in all though, definitely worth... More

I stayed here for one night for an overnight trip to Dublin. It is fairly basic but it is clean, comfortable, decent enough location and also includes ensuite bathrooms. Also €17 a night is excellent value for a hostel in Dublin.
