I had mixed feelings about Avalon House. The staff were a real mixture - overall I thought they were helpful but the helpfulness and service just didn't compare with other accomodation I stayed at during my holiday. I had a bedroom to myself and it was alright except for the port hole in the door which meant light was coming... more

We'd booked a twin room with share bathroom, but got upgraded to en suite room when we got there - yay! The room was ok, small, bunks and average shower but we thought we were going to be sharing, so it was fine! I'm not sure what people expect of hostels, but the breakfast was perfectly adequate and I bought... more

Stayed for 2 nights at €65 per night. Asked if room was ensuite? i was told there was a shower and a handbasin in the room. It never dawned on me that this meant the toliet was elsewhere!! Up a flight of stairs, in poor condition, with the basin pedestal not attached to the handbasin but free standing just waiting... more

I was very impressed with Avalon house. Stayed in a room with 4 friends. The room had a private bathroom and shower. The shower was kind of bad though - it just has a push button, so water flows for about 5 seconds and is lukewarm. However, this is because Avalon advertises that it is a 'Green Hostel'. Excellent location,... more

Avalon House had a broken lift when I was there, and there was no way I could haul my extra heavy luggage all the way up to my third floor room. (Thankfully, another visitor there saw my situation and whisked my luggage right up to the third floor for me without even asking! What a hero!) I read somewhere that... more

I was in Avalon House for 3 days. Has a perfect location, and staff is friendly. But is unconfortable, horrible showers and breakfast... Not so good like they say on his web more

Staff was so-so, some were extremely helpful and others were just a little cold (but not an issue). I was annoyed with the check-in/check-out. They will not let you check in even a minute early so you wait until 2pm and there's a huge line. They have a luggage room for storing luggage before of after your stay but you... more

The lady at the desk was awesome. She had a line of pple waiting, but gave ample time to everyone to answer their detailed questions. There is a large kitchen area, as well as an attatched coffee shop you can spend time in too. more

I stayed at Avalon House for one night last March. To be honest, I was rather glad that my stay was only the one night. As I was travelling alone, I booked a single room. The bed mattress was incredibly thin, as were the bedroom walls. The bedroom door had a glazed window, and with the landing light being on... more

This was my first time to stay at a hostel, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I got a single room to be on the safe side. It was perfect! The room was nice and the hallway and room were very quiet. I hardly saw another person. The bathrooms were very clean. The people I did meet in the... more
