Right in the center of dublin and the Temple bar district is the Mercantil hotel. A nice old hotel with a very polite staff and a charming decor. The downstairs bar, coffeeshop etc. makes your stay very pleasant. The location is perfect, close to everything worth to see in Dublin. Though you are not allowed smoking anywhere in the hotel... As a big rugby fan but not originally from Dublin, I had heard about the Mercantile being a great sports bar in the heart of the city, and I therefore HAD to try it out... Was pleasantly surprised by the great atmosphere in there as I was scared it would be one of those chaotic pubs in which you can't... More

Visited this hotel at the start of January as a surprise Christmas present. It was amazingly situated. The room was spotless. Amazing double bed. It was perfect for two people there on a short break. The tv was a bit out dated but that wasn't an issue as we had a laptop with us. Wifi is available in the rooms... More

We didn't stay at the hotel, we just had two lunches here with friends. And the reason we came back the second time is because of the good experience the first time. Very nice location, elecant and relaxing and cosy at the same time. The music is relaxing and portugese and at a level that you could have a conversation... More

This is a great little hotel in the heart of Dublin. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is clean and tidy. I would definitely stay there again. Given that it is in the heart of the city and it has great pubs and restaurants around it that open until late, if you are looking for a quiet and... More

Stayed in the Mercantile for one night to see a gig across the street in the Olympia. Best value in Dublin. The location is amazing. The rooms were a little dated and small, but absolutely spotless, in fact the whole hotel was immaculate. The bed was the biggest and most comfy of any hotel I have stayed in. The staff... More

Good hotel in perfect location. Rooms we had were quite pricey, as there are similar cheaper hotels around Temple Bar. Rooms were quite outdated, so was the furniture, but overall it was clean with a huge bathroom! Very nice service and reception staff and great bar, that gets very busy at nights! Definitely recommended if you don't mind spending a... More

This hotel is great but has some annoying flaws. The staff, while friendly, seemed very incompetent. While trying to book the room over the counter I was quoted 3 separate prices by 2 different members of staff before finally getting the to book me in at the price they advertise. Another annoying flaw is the fact that the bedside lamps... More

This was our second stay at the mercantile. Great location, fantastic breakfast. Good rooms. Hotel is also a pub serving food and also now a brunch cafe for 'artisan' breads and proper espresso. Great staff- particularly John who makes everything right at night!

Stayed for 1 night as heading to a concert across the road at Olympia Theatre. Hotel in great location, room spacious and comfortable, furniture a bit outdated. Great bathroom, spacious, modern with giant mirror behind sink with great lighting. No double glazing so can get very noisy especially early hours when clean up starts so the supplied earplug come in handy.... More
