This was my second stay at The Clarence - its a really nice hotel in a great location. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Food is superb - breakfast is delicious and beautifully served the Cleaver East is an amazing restaurant. I had the most beautiful salad there. We arrived early and they had our room ready which was... More

Staff were excellent and food was excellent. There was noise from bars next door which would effect if you were there for an early night, but overall is was a very good stay and value was reasonable. Rooms were good although a fresh coat of paint would improve further.

I had stayed here last year and enjoyed it and therefore this was my first choice when I needed a hotel in Dublin this year. I wasn't nearly as impressed this time. The room I was in felt tired as if it was in need of an overhaul; one of the bedsight lamps didn't work and there seemed to be... More

Jake, thanks for taking the time to review The Clarence having stayed with us this month. It's disappointing to read that you feel you had a lesser experience on this trip compared to your previous stay. Regarding the lighting, I'm not sure what happened as all lighting is checked on a daily basis when the room is being serviced to... More

The Clarence is a great hotel in a fantastic location in Dublin. A minutes walk to the bars of Temple Bar and a little further to shops and restaurants. Grafton Street not even ten minutes away. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We usually visit in January and arrive early, (pre-10.00 am) and our room is always ready. Love it!!

...but I didn't. It was just 'adequate', which may be okay for some people, but I expected more. It rather reminded me of a Premier Inn in its in-room decor. I get what they are trying to do, eg minimalism, but it wasn't stylish enough, in my opinion. It certainly wasn't 'luxury', as descrived online. My travelling partner thought it... More

It's a pity to read that you dis not have the experience here at The Clarence that you had hoped for, and that we strive to offer. The lack of a friendly welcome and awareness of the payment details prearranged has been addressed with our front of house staff. With regard to your experience in Cleaver East at Breakfast has... Ok so a totally honest review. Staff upon arrival great. Warm and welcoming. Room, immaculate (minor hiccup with electrics not working upon arrival, but quickly resolved by hotel porter) Cleanliness maintained to an excellent standard throughout visit, room cleaned, fresh towels and linen everyday, evidently vacuumed every day. We ate in Cleaver East on last night of our stay and... More

Ruth, thanks for the many positive points you make in your review regarding your recent stay at The Clarence. They are very much appreciated and thank you for taking the time to make them. Fancied a long weekend away as a Christmas present for the other half. Was looking for somewhere within walking distance of all the attractions on a reasonable budget and the Clarence fit the bill perfectly! Located within a minutes walk of all the bars and restaurants, less than 15 minutes walk from the airport shuttle bus and less than half... More

Thanks for your review of The Clarence following your stay with us in December. I'm happy to read you enjoyed your stay. On the Sunday in question we did indeed close the bar to the public at 11pm as we experienced probably the quietest day of the year however as a resident our night team would happily have served you...
