We chose this B&B when we went to Dublin for New Years Eve. It is not close to the main city, but we knew that, and had been expecting to access via the Rialto tram line (Luas). This was fine but added a bit of strain to our budgets, as a return to the city proper was around E5 each.... More

We stayed at this BnB for 6 nights. Good room, clean bathroom, nice host. The room is cleaned every day, breakfast is wonderful. Note that it is not close to the city centre. My friend and I love to walk, so we walked to the centre. It took us around 40 minutes to get to O'Connel street

Not a luxurious place but had everything we needed. The lady who keeps the place was friendly and helpful. Good breakfast each morning. I didn't enjoy our bathroom. It was quite hard to use the sink and wash your face as it was just large enough to barely fit your hands in. It was also a bit far from city... More

This B&B is a very good value for money option in Dublin. Our room was rather small but enough for us. The B&B is located in a quiet neighborhood about 30 mins walk to the city center and there is a bus stop closeby. The breakfast was good and Mairead is a very nice host.

Having read the previous reviews I was a bit dubious about our stay here, but I had nothing to worry about! Arriving late at night, it is easiest to get a taxi to the B&B from the city centre. We had a great choice for breakfast and Mairead explained to us the best ways to get into Dublin City Centre.... More

We spent 8 night in the double room. We arrived in the morning and Mairead managed to get room ready for us. What was very nice. Breakfast was delicious, facilities are quite good, hospitality is exceptional. It was a great Ireland experience for us and I highly recommend Portland house for whoever value such things. My mother and I were travelling for our off-season holiday this November and stayed here the first two nights of our vacation when many other aspects of our trip were going wrong in a domino-effect fashion. Because the guests checking out of the room we had reserved for that night had left very early in the morning, Mairead, the proprietor,... More

Stayed one night on a friend's recommendation. The room had twin beds and was so small that, in order for two people to enter, one had to go into the bathroom. The wash hand basin was so small that you could only wash one hand at a time. The skirting board had come away from the wall alongside one of... More

Just finished a quick business trip in Dublin and had a four night stay in Portland House. I have to say that I was genuinely very impressed overall. The house was warm and friendly, The rooms were clean and well appointed. The breakfast was excellent and the chat in the morning with the Lady of the house Mairead was always... More
