I have read some other reviews which said Jerry was rude. It's true. Jerry is rude, but rude like your beloved cranky old uncle is rude. I have stayed in bed and breakfasts and hostels all over, and I have to say Jerry is one of the most memorable hosts I've had. He also keeps a nice, clean, safe place.... More

This B&B was our least favorite of the four we stayed at on our recent trip to Ireland. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable but it's dated (yes, I get the house is over 100 years old) - the house is actually leaning and you have to watch you don't trip and fall with your luggage when... We arrived at Number Forty Eight a little too early and when Jerry the host answered the door the initial feeling was that we were intruding however after about 30 seconds we realized he was the most charming b&b host we had met on our trip. He not only let us leave our things in the room (that wasn't ready... More

One of the worst places I've ever stayed. Owner was (overly) helpful at first, however when me and a friend ordered food to be delivered at 11pm we rang reception to inform the owner, we were greeted by "do you realise what time it is? Do not call me again" in one of the most disgusting tones I've ever came... More

Oh my goodness, what an unpleasant experience, and on my birthday no less. We arrived to a very surly reception by our host, Mr. Jerry Spillane (who by the way, never introduced himself). He initially seemed perturbed that we were too impatient waiting for him to come to the door. Next, he indicated that we had booked two rooms for... More

Unfortunately, our room was a bit small and outdated. We also had to sleep in separate beds, as our room had two twin beds in it and the one closest to the window was on a major slope so if you weren't careful, you would roll right out of it! But Gerrys service made the stay worth it. He was... More

The place is very near center, railway station, Road junction, you can walk up to the center of town in 5 minutes. Clean and Quiet, room are pleasant. If you like rugby, you can have a long talk with the house keeper, a previous great player, an advised specialist.

The owner is lovely! An amazing welcoming and he took the time to answer all my questions about the city and transport. He makes the best breakfast, and his freshly made orange juice is the best I have ever tasted!! The hotel is around 2 minutes from the train-station (by foot) and maybe 10-15 minutes from the bus station (by... More

I stayed with Jerry from Sept 13 till March 14 as I was working down in cork. First of all I found the house and rooms very homely. Then you have Gerry the owner. Words can't describe how helpful and kind Gerry is. My room was always cleaned and fresh towels every day. As for location it's perfect for anyone... More

The last, and only disappointing B&B on our holiday. An early flight meant we had to leave before breakfast. Our "host" was not even prepared to leave us the ingredients to make a sandwich and a cup of tea before we left. No tea making facilities in the rooms.
