This is a good average B&B but like many in Cork City overpriced. I booked directly by telephone and when I got to Cork at 8.30 in the morning was offered breakfast immediately. The owner was friendly and helpful although she tried to get me to take a room in an annex further from the city centre - I declined.... more

We stayed in Achill House a Sat Night in June. We were pleased with the accomodation, and the location in Cork is convenient to everything. We literally walked in the door and we were asked for payment. We still had our bags in our hands! I booked over the net with my credit card so there was no way we... more

We visited Cork for the May Bank Holiday weekend. Helena made us feel welcome on our arrival, which was earlier than the usual check-in time. The property is very clean, well decorated and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were magnificent - no need for lunch after Helena's Full Irish! As we were only in Cork... more

This lovely B&B, in an elegant period guesthouse, is located in Cork, Ireland.. Ms. Helen McSweeney, and her staff, are both hospitable and warm, The rooms are spacious and well decorated, with ample electrical outlets for those of us with laptops, IPODs, cameras, and cell phones. And Ms. McSweeney provided a rarity in Ireland, a facecloth. The breakfast was stellar... more

I had initially contacted this B&B looking for long-stay accommodation in Cork (2-4 weeks). The landlady was cheerful and accommodating on the phone although the rates quoted seemed quite high and I was told that I would be housed in a shared house down the road from the usual guesthouse. Since this house was being renovated, I would be put... more

We were checked into the Achill House by an agency for the Cork Film Festival. It was quite basic. Seemed cleanish. But to charge 150 Euros a night (twin room) for a B+B is absolutely extortionate. The Landlady quoted the price. We viewed the very basic twin room offered to us and decided to stay in the Jury's hotel across... more

This lovely B&B is easy to find, on the Western Road just steps away from the University gates. In addition to the clean, simple rooms there is some parking (a plus!) and the warm welcome and good food provided by Helena and the staff is a wonderful way to begin (or end) a visit to Ireland. Fresh and restful. Lots... more

The Achill House is a charming, conveniently located B & B in Cork, Ireland. The highlight is the owner, Helena, who is a delightful owner and cares about her business, the B & B, and her guests. The rooms are adequate, the breakfast was delicious, but she is the highlight. I left some clothing in the room. It was found... more
