I booked this hotel for a 2 night break,I booked an executive double room thinking that there would be something better about the room than a standard double which was cheaper. There was not! The room was average to say the least, it was old, dated and run down. The only thing modern about this room was the fact that... More

Stayed 3 nights for business. Great location - a block from where the bus to/from Dublin stops at St. Patricks Quay, 5 min walk to main bus station, 10 min walk to train station, across the bridge from City Center with Marks and Spencer and other stores, great fish and chip across the street. Staff were fantastic - Emile, Daniel,... More

Every time I stay here the warmth of the staff never fails - yes its a bit past it's best but it has a faded grandeur with a whiff of Agatha Christie - slow lifts - creaky floors - a perfect antidote to bland transatlantic chains. Rooms are small, warm ( too warm sometimes) but always clean, always comfortable.

I travel to Cork annually for the "live at the marquee" gigs and the metropole is my choice of accomodation. Ive now stayed in the Metropole 3 times and have no reason to look elsewhere. Its literally a 5min walk to the train station and overlooks the River Lee. The rooms are basic but clean and the breakfast is really... More

I booked on line and when I arrived the Reception Staff had problems finding my booking. I had to wait about 30 minutes while they sorted this out. This is annoying, as I had my reference, but I had not printed off all the paper work. I had the same problem the following day when I tried to get into... More

Stayed at the Metropole for one night when in Cork for a Noel Gallagher concert and I had mixed feelings about it. We were booked into a double room, which was not what I had intended, but when I requested the receptionist to move us to a twin, he happily obliged. The rooms are very clean with a majestic view... We only spent one night at the Metropole and we arrived late in the afternoon and left early in the morning. The room was clean and comfortable as was the bed. It was quiet except for the odd car passing on the road early in the morning but we slept well. The breakfast was very good and the staff pleasant... More
