We had been booked in by festival organisers to stay here but ended up finding a different place so didn't actually sleep here. Rooms looked depressingly cell like, smelt pretty horrible and beds looked bad, those metal framed yokes with the middle sunk like a hammock. Saying that the staff where extra helpful, kept our stuff aside when we arrived... More

Friendly, clean, lots of different floors and levels with different areas for mixing. I chose to have a shared dorm and found everyone friendly. Its good value for money, you get what you pay for. Breakfast is basic, but again, you get what you pay for. Close to the centre of cork.

This hostel is designed for people to mingle. Very spacious, and divided so people can go where they want to be. Computers available, a lounge area and an outdoor patio as well as a good kitchen and a huge dining area. Staff are lovely, and the whole place is clean and in a good location.

I stayed at Kinlay House on December 8th-11th in the 10 people room. So pros of this hostel: location, has free breakfast (consisting of toast, coffee/tea), and the staff is relatively pretty good. Linens are included which is also a bonus. Now this is pretty much all the good stuff, the hostel itself is quite run down, not terrible but... More

Most efficient (and friendly) check-in experience I'd ever had. Rooms were reasonably clean, and the unisex bathroom setup made the morning rush very manageable. Only major drawback was the shower- the door didn't fully close, making it impossible to shower properly without getting everything I'd brought with me soaking wet.

The hostel is in a small hill really close to the city center, has not so friendly staff and has an old cemetery as a neighbour. The beds are not noisy, bathrooms are usually clean, but most of the building smells musty. The breakfast served has bread (white and brown), jam, butter and tea. One bad point is that they... More

I went there for one night and my room was facing an old cemetery... despite this detail... the room was ok. The whole place was very clean. The internet worked fine. The breakfast was.... small... there were a lot of adolescents there... I was happy to leave.

Two things stood out on my Kinlay House stay and they both were the result of their cool, accommodating staff! One, as an older female solo traveler, I discovered I was originally booked by our tour to stay in a room with all guys, something I'm just not comfortable with and their front desk staff found me a single with... Stayed overnight part of a paddywagon nine day tour of Ireland. Hostel was found to be clean, organised, staff efficient and freindly. Generally felt to be a decent well run hostel on the right side of being efficient but not clinical and stuffy about things. There were eight of us in an en-suite room. Beds were ok. Pillows-small and flat.... More

Bearing in mind this is a hostel and you don't pay much for the room you can't really expect the Ritz. However if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful with a warm welcome and a comfortable bed then this is PERFECT! I had a shower and the water was nice and hot and there was tea or coffee and toast...
