The Acorn is an O.K. b&b, but not one that you'd likely write home to Grandma about. The best thing going for it is it's location, which is prime. During weekdays, there are a few language schools on the street which attract foreign college students....not a problem, but they do clog the sidewalk on break and make a bit of... more

We loved this b & b and Cork city. It is brilliantly located , just 2 minutes walk to the city center. We thought that it was very good value as the rooms were very large and the adjoining bathroom had a bath - which found to be a rare treat on our travels. Charlie was friendly and cooked a... more

I had a lovely weekend in cork and AcornHouse . The location is superb , just a 3 minute walk to St. Patrick street . My room was bright , clean and very confortable and the power showers are great. I had a lovely breakfast in the gorgeous breakfast room - original floorboards and beautiful paintings . I would hope... more

We had a lovely stay , we found that the hosts : Charlie & Jackie were very helpful , recommending the best restaurants and bars. The location is superb , only a 3 minute walk to the city center. Our room was very large and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was very good with a selection of cereals toast , brown bread... more

Location is a plus; central to downtown, but far enough away for quiet. However, we had a very small room on 4th floor. Tough to carry all of our luggage up. The main issue was the pervasive smell of mold; my wife got sick the next morning. She recovered quickly once we left. We travelled throughout Ireland and stayed in... more

Very close to the centre of Cork, but on a quiet street. We have stayed several times, and found Charles and Jackie friendly and reliable. The breakfast is good and the rooms are clean and light. I would happily recommend Acorn House to others. more

I have just stayed for 2 nights and we had a lovely time. The guesthouse is brilliantly located and a beautiful house full of character , I particularly liked the breakfast room. The rooms and breakfast were good and we found the hosts very welcoming. I would definitely stay here again. more

We stayed here for one night at the end of April. We chose this place because it was recommended in Lonely Planet, because it is so near to the centre of Cork and because we wanted to avoid corporate hotels. What we found was that it was very basic indeed. Our room was large with a bed , one folding... more

We booked in here because of the Lonely Planet review and because of the location. Lots of little things wrong with it such as only one bedside lamp for 2 people, no soap, no hairdryer, inadequate towels, etc The welcome was totally cold and indifferent, she didn't even bother to explain that we needed a parking ticket for the parking... more

Having read the reviews, after I had booked the accommodation, I was worried, but there was no need to be. I found the hosts welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast was good, my room was very clean and bright. The location was also good. It was easy to walk to the bus station and a very short walk to the city... more
