I'd rate Bru Bar as an average experience. The room was fine, clean and the cleaning lady I met on both mornings was very nice and thorough in her cleaning. I found the reception staff relatively unhelpful and unfriendly. Consider the fact that this is above a bar if you are a light sleeper! I am a deep sleeper so... More

Stayed in a 4 bed female dorm (room 206) and the room was very dirty. Dust and hairs everywhere. Everything was sticky and looked as if it hasn't been cleaned thoroughly for years. There was trash in the storage space under the bed and no way to lock this compartment. Othe than that the room could have been nice. The... More

Spent a night here in a 6 person dorm, already extending for another three nights. Rooms are clean, staff is welcoming and nice. The bar has a better selection than most bars I have noticed while I have traveled through Ireland. There was a band playing that night as I assume every night but I didn't hear anything but then... I was concerned about the hostel being above a bar, but you cannot hear a thing from the rooms. The rooms are very clean (a little stuffy, but the window opens which is nice), there were enough outlets for everyone in the room (all by the door, but that was ok), the rooms were cleaned (mopped, etc.) every day (and... Simple clean accommodation. Nothing special but great place to explore Cork from. Great bar down stairs and lots of bars and restaurants on the same street. Its a pretty long walk down to the student end of the city where the clubs etc are but just a few dollars in a taxi

Eventhough this hostel has a good bar and is in a good location its a terrible place to stay. The restrooms are stinky, the rooms are small and additional money for towels. Bed linen looks really old, The plug points in the dorm are only at one single location and is hard to use from the beds. i do not... More

While this hostel houses a pub downstairs I never heard any loud disturbance or noise. I stayed with 2 other friends and our room was perfect for what we needed. The location was very good for getting to the main street and there was parking available near the train station so it was perfect for our weekend stay.

Great location. The owner seemed friendly enough as well. We really only seemed to talk to him so I can't speak to the other staff. En suite bathroom was somewhat clean, the room was clean was pretty good. I didn't have any problem with the bar below, but when we came back there was a strange old man sleeping on... More

We had a good stay at Bru for 2 nights. The twin room was good and so was the bathroom. Big tv room and kitchen for all guest's use. Nice staff as well. Though the walls seemed to be very thin, you could here EVERYTHING that was going on outside the room. We were prepared to hear som noise since... More

Just what you'd expect from a hostel: cheap, well located (5 min walk from the city centre but surrounded by pubs and restaurants), quite clean and comfortable. Would definitely need to change their showers though (the doors did not close well so we flooded the bathroom, and the water was boiling hot), and add a few shelves in the bathroom.
