John and Helen were the most gracious, helpful hosts. They helped us plan facets of our trip that extended well beyond Cork. Breakfast was delicious, and they were more than willing to cater to alternative diet needs. John never led us astray with recommendations for places to go, music to listen to, and places to eat. This was our first... more

We stayed in ireland for two weeks and hopped around to about five different bed and breakfasts. They were all nice but Glencairn was exceptional. The owners really make you feel like you're at home. Not to mention they make great breakfasts and offered really good suggestions as to what to see in the area. If you're going to be... more

At first we were a bit concerned that the house was farther from town than we planned (about a ten to fifteen minute drive from the heart of the city) but we ended up loving our time at Glencairn. The house is lovely, and with only three rooms, very quiet. John was so friendly and helped us with dinner reservations... more

The view overlooking the Harbour was beautiful. The Home had tasteful decor and artwork, and our room was cozy. Lush gardens encircled the home. John & Helen were caring, lovely, convivial Hosts. We had an Auto problem, and I don't think we could have gotten through it, without their help. We were "lucky" to have met them. more

When we got there, the hostess sat with us for an hour talking about random topics. The breakfast was filling and the view in the morning was grand. The room was nice, even though the bathroom was just a few feet down the hall. When we came back from dinner at a place they recommended (AWESOME fried fish), there was... more

My husband and I stayed at Glencairn for 2 nights and loved it. First of all, the gardens around the house are amazing. There is a great running path by the water just down from their house. They are an easy drive into the city center. Very helpful and friendly hosts. The room was very nice...and their house was beautiful... more

My friend and I were traveling through Ireland to celebrate our 50th birthdays and were fortunate enough to stay at Glencairn. Our innkeeper, John, was originally from Ohio (like us) and welcomed us with chilled wine to celebrate our special day! Our room on the second floor was spacious and very charming. John and his wife, Helen, made us feel... more

Wow, what a warm welcome we got when we arrived at the Fox's! First impressions hardly ever lie, and this one was no exception. We got served tea, coffee and beer whenever we wanted (no extra charge whatsoever!), John& Helen were always eager to hear what we had been doing each day and gave us fantastic advices on where to... more

Our stay couldn't have been more enjoyable! Although we didn't spend much time in the room, everything was wonderful... and the request for a "candle in a tea biscuit" with our morning breakfast was encountered with a smile... and a knowing wink from John who, with the help of Helen, devised a "birthday breakfast" for my daughter-in-law which included balloons...... more
