Although this hotel may be showing its age a bit, we very much enjoyed our stay. From the moment we arrived the staff members were the best! Polite, helpful, hospitable. Our room was on 4th floor in the back, so it was very quiet even with windows open for circulation. Great bathroom with huge tub and nice toiletries. We were... More

We stayed here last week with our tour group and it was very noisy. The poets corner was nice but did not start til 10 pm and we had to be on the bus at 8 :30. The rooms were ok but the bathtub felt like it was going to fall through the floor. Had to leave windows open as... More

We have just returned from a three week vacation in France and Ireland. We usually go to Europe and Ireland in september each year and invariably stay for a few nights at the Old Ground in Ennis, Ireland. This year our stay at the Old Ground has to have been the worst experience that we have encountered in any hotel... More

Dear Thomas, We are indeed disappointed that you decided to try to sabotage our reputation with such an unpleasant tirade. Our property has remained No 1 on Tripadvisor in Ennis for the past 10 years and we closely monitor feedback to ensure small issues are dealt with in a constructive manner. However, I would like to point out that the... More

We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of a 2-week Tauck tour. Good room, nice public areas, friendly staff. Nice breakfast. And a big bonus was the Poets Corner, a traditional Irish pub with great atmosphere and very good food. Right in the center of town, which is very nice to walk around. We enjoyed it a lot.

This is a beautiful hotel, and the restaurant was quite busy at lunchtime. The menu was very limited though. Service was excellent, and they serve a Paulaner wheat beer, so I overlooked the poor choice of food! But my overall rating has to be Average because of that.

I was so disappointed in this hotel. I think it is a lovely hotel, with a great location but even though I had specified that I needed a very quiet room, as I am a light sleeper, the hotel placed me at the front of the hotel on the street side where people congregate outside to smoke and chat and... From the out side it doesn't look like much, once inside its lovely. Lots of Antiques and quaint rooms. We had a bedroom with sitting area and a separate sun room. Our view was of the park like setting outside with places to sit and have glass of wine in the afternoon. Service was excellent and we enjoyed the morning... More

Lovely hotel situated with a lot of Old World Charm. Room was comfortable and the sitting area downstairs was beautifully done. Very nice dining area and since our final day we only had breakfast there. Very friendly and efficient staff and wonderful service. We ended the night in the hotel bar where we enjoyed some traditional Irish music. Lovely place... More

We had a pleasant enough stay in a large room on fifth floor. Even with a high temp only in upper 60s F, the room was warm. We could not sleep under the covers and there was no circulation even with windows open. The hotel is nice otherwise, but there were morning construction-like noises and traffic. Hallways are noisy and... More

What a find! The Old Ground Hotel is an elegant Grande Dame with old world charm and sophistication overlaid with superb service. In addition to its own fabulous pub and restaurant, the central location lends itself to easy exploration of local fare and shops, even a small mall under roof just around the corner. Our room was comfortably cozy (... More
