We have recently returned from an excellent week on Mull. The last three nights were the best, staying at the wonderful old house that is Tiroran. After a long slow winding drive you eventually find the hotel set in beautiful grounds. The welcome is warm and friendly. The restaurant is excellent, the best food we had on Mull. It is... more

I have visited Tiroran House several times now and for one main reason: Tiroran is a true antidote to the stresses and strains of modern life! As other reviewers have commented the welcome I have always recieved from Katie and Laurence is warm and genuine, just like meeting up with dearest friends. The rooms are extremely comfortable and my favourite... more

I've just returned from a most wonderful weekend break at Tiroran House, Mull. From the moment we stepped through the front door I felt as if I had entered into a world of comfort and relaxation. We were shown to our room "the Green room" aka "the room that also has a loo with a view" by our host Lawrence... more

Tiroran charges a "non-refundable deposit" although if you cancel with notice, you can fight it and win by contacting your credit card company. The hotel will fight for their deposit and tell you that if you should visit in the future they will not take a second deposit. This is not a good business practice and why would somebody want... more

We were booked into Tiroran House as a surprise present from friends. On arrival along the beautiful driveway we were greeted by Lawrence, the welcoming host, along with his wife Katie, the hotels talented cheff. Tea and cakes on arrival, in a lovely sitting room, settled us in for our stay. Our room (the Green Room) was perfect with breathtaking... more

A return to the Tiroran House and we were not disappointed. This is a truly special place. A warm welcome from Laurence together with homemade cake and a cup of tea from Katie starts to get you in the necessary relaxed mood. This hotel is totally aligned with the Island - don't expect flashness - that simply isn't what either... more

We have just returned from a holiday touring Scotland highlands which included 3 nights at this hotel. The location is fantastic in a secluded part of the Isle of Mull with beautiful gardens and a high standard of decor. We booked one night DBB leaving our option for dinner on the other 2 nights and my wife prefers vegetarian food... more

Tiroran is a remote place that provides freshly ordered and prepared food to a very high standard. We willingly cater for all genuine dislikes and special diets, but it is difficult to provide the right kind of food at late notice when the information given to us at the time of booking was incorrect. We make no apologies for the...

Wonderful location for peace and quiet, and some wild life observation. Rooms are well appointed, (M&S towels) and very clean. Dinner was good, but breakfast disappointing, overcooked, and not very inspirational Host okay but a bit over officious e.g. why do we have to fill in a form (by18.30!!) to say what we want to eat, there are only 2... more

The wildlife on the Isle of Mull is amazing, sea eagles, golden eagles, wild mountain goats and hares, wild birds and sea birds, otters, red deer, rare butterflies, dragonflies, porpoise, basking sharks, whales and puffins – and more, all within striking distance of Tiroran. To be able to criticise breakfast, one must try more than just the bacon and a...
