I would definitely recommend a stay at Ayen Cottage if you're planning to visit Islay. We were delighted by the delicious home cooked breakfasts, cooked to order; cosy, comfortable rooms; and friendly welcoming hosts. Carole was so warm and accommodating and always ready to help with anything we may have needed. The BnB is centrally located on the island, making... More

We spent 3 nights at Ayen Cottage and wish it could have been longer. I waited 65 years to visit Islay, my namesake and clearly should have visited many years ago because now will have to fit in lots of visits to make up for lost time ! Carol and Barry made our stay at Ayen Cottage and our experience... More

Ayen Cottage is a super comfy and cheerful oasis in the middle of Islay. Carol's breakfasts are the best we enjoyed during our three week sampling of Irish and Scottish B & Bs; and her hospitality was unparalleled. The home is centrally located so that everything is within reach. We especially enjoyed Islay House and the Woollen Mills. The location... More

A quiet B&B surrounded with open fields, and not to close to the road. Great view from the windows. The room and bathroom was clean and in good standard. Carol has lots of recommendations about what to see and where to go. The breakfast is massive and will keep you going all day. This will be the B&B we will... More

This lovely Bed & Breakfast is centrally located in Islay, perfect for exploring distilleries and beaches alike. We could reserve only two nights as the place was fully booked, wished we could have stayed more! The house is very quiet, way back from the road. Loved the view from the bed room. The kids had a separate bath, with tartan... More

The best B and B to discover Islay is Ayen Cottage! The hosts, Carol and Barry, are very warmly and hearty. We felt like home. Carols breakfast is the real stuff to survive all destillary excursions. They help you with every information about islay you need to experience this island successfully. With warm Regards from Rendsburgh to Ballygrant!!!

with Carole and Barry! We spent 2 nights on Islay in June and what should I say: we had such a good time! Carole and Barry made us feel very welcome at their home, Ayen Cottage, which is located on a hill in the countryside, about 10 minutes from the Kennacraig Ferry. Our room was cosy, we had our own... My husband and I had two nights to spend on Islay. Carole and Barry made us very welcome at Ayen cottage. The room was very comfortable and easy for me to get around in. The breakfasts were fantastic and filling enough to get us through until dinner with only a light snack in the afternoon. They were also able to... More

The only points stopping us from rating this excellent is that the wash-basin was too small and the shower inconsistent. EVERYTHING ELSE was excellent and the owners very helpful and friendly. The location is good for all places. Near Port Askaig Ferry but not far from Port Ellen.

We stayed at Ayen Cottage whilst visiting the island to attend a wedding. We were made so welcome by Carole and Barry and were sorry to leave after 4 nights stay. The room was great and exceptionally clean. Really comfortable beds. Plenty of room, TV with freeview if we wanted it. A tray in the room with kettle, tea &... More
