Brilliant hostel. The hostel is welcoming and clean, and John, the owner is helpful and friendly. It's on the far end of the island, so be prepared for about a 40 minute walk when you first get in at the pier. The views are beautiful, from both the common room and the dorms, and there are beaches a short walk... More

The hostel has a fantastic location on the magical island of Iona and is just a short walk to a fantastic beach. I loved everything about this place and will hopefully be quick to return. This is a gem.

Stayed here only for one night but wished it was for more. Was recommended to stay here through an Edinburgh-based family member and found this to be a gem! We experienced an hour delay for our ferry from Oban to Mull, and you should have seen how rushed and bothered we were, driving on that single lane, winding roads, neglecting... More

I don't know how to describe the warm and welcoming feeling that I had when we got to this place. The people were very friendly, great decor of the house (especially kitchen and 'hang out' part of the house), VERY clean, LOVED the eco concept and I just wish I could stay for like a month cause it was such... It may look like a shed but that is further from the truth you can imagine. Once inside the place is very special; it is warm, facilities are clean and it is well equipped. We stayed for two night during storms in March in the two bedded room and had a fantastic time. John and Mark were very helpful checking... More

I stayed last week for 4 nights in the hostel and then 3 nights in the Shepherds Bothy. John, the hostel owner, gives a warm welcome to guests and Mark, Lionel and Audey, the resident hostel volunteers further ensure a friendly stay. Hostel is spotless, plenty of hot water, fridge and storage space allocated, sea views and log fire burner... More

I spent a few days in this hostel and it was a very nice experience! The hostel was amazing! Big rooms, clean, and very friendly staff who made sure you are always comfortable. Its at a small distance from a beach of cristaline waters and amazing colours. I would totally reccommend a visit and would love to return some day!

The Iona Hostel is a particularly magical place on a magical island. This is the first time I've been to the Western Isles and I was blown away by the warm welcome from the island community and, notably, John the hostel owner. We went for Hogmanay so the weather was changeable but the hostel provided a metaphorical and literal cosy... More

This place is unrivalable. The hostel itself is nestled at the North end of Iona, with samples of the most startling Scottish beaches viewable from the common room couch. Sure there are some risks in heading this far north during the depths of winter but I've done it twice with not a single regret. It's actually pretty accessible in its... More
