Being collected by car off the ferry on a cold, wet evening and whisked to the home away from home, was a dream. From the moment I walked through the door, this B & B exuded comfort, hospitality and care. Richard could not have been a more charming host with so many interesting stories to tell. The sumptuous and varied... More

This purpose-built B and B on the amazing Island of Iona is completely wonderful. Stay at Ardoran House! The furnishings and special touches are welcoming and comfortable. The proprietor, Richard, is a gracious host and a super chef, and breakfast here was a highlight! I was traveling solo and was perfectly at home here. I know it sounds like I'm... More

We walked in the door and felt immediately relaxed and at home! The decor was fabulous and the rooms were extremely comfortable with excellent views. Conversations over wine in the conservatory in the late afternoon with the other guests added to the charm. Richard is the best host that we have ever encountered. His attention to every detail makes this... More

We spent two nights at Ardoran House, one of the most pleasant B and B stays we have ever had in Scotland, if not the best. Richard was a gracious host, who made us feel most welcome. Our room was most comfortable, and the wine with light snacks in the late after noon was delightful. Ardoran is our choice for... More

We were really well taken care of on Iona at Ardoran House. He really sets himself the highest standards for your comfort. Highlights included the breakfasts and the sumptuous beds (not bad for a B'n'B!) but most of all, chatting to the owner, glass of wine in hand, misty rain falling around ... but it doesn't matter when you're in... The Ardoran House is the only place to stay on Iona. From the bedding and linens to the breakfast, every detail is attended to with utmost care. There are no bad views from the rooms-the conservatory is lovely. While we didn't spend a lot of time 'hanging out', I can imagine returning in the future to relax on the premises.... More

Our host went overboard to make the members of my group tour feel welcome and accommodated. We were picked up at the ferry dock and speedily and easily checked into our rooms. At breakfast we enjoyed eggs from his own hens, probably laid that morning. Cows mooed, hens clucked, and sheep baaed, all from the back yard. A short walk... More

Stayed in first week July 2013 - a kind and helpful welcome from the minute I had to ring to explain a delay in our travel plans due to train problems. Richard gave helpful advice regarding connections to the bus from the ferry, and said he would have a glass of wine waiting for us. .After a tiring and frustrating... More

I'm a frequent B&B goer and this is the first time I have ever felt the need to seek out the opportunity to write a review. And delighted to discover that "Classy B&B, a cut above the rest" by Thedragon22 and "NO ordinary B&B" by maryloudean perfectly describe what I had planned to write about Ardoran House. This oasis of... More
