Like many visitors, we were enchanted by Iona, and staying at the Argyll Hotel made our time on the island all the more special. This really is the perfect place to stay! We had booked our room from the United States, and the "luxury" ocean-view room was all that was available, so that's where we stayed. I know we paid... More

Our family recently visited the Isle of Iona and stayed at the venerable Argyll Hotel. While the building is old (and that is what gives it it's character) it is well maintained and a comfortable place at which to stay. The included breakfasts were good, and the available dinners were superior. They have their own organically-grown garden. The hotel is... More

We spent two nights at the Argyll. Our rooms were well appointed, clean and even charming. Scottish breakfast was well prepared and kept us going for the day. Dinner was fine though not memorable. Two days in the island gave us the chance to get a feel for the place and its history. Highly recommend.

Wish we could have stayed longer! We had a room with a view of the ocean, a fireplace and a soaker tub. All three of our meals were exceptional and the service was great. Iona is a beautiful and quiet little place with wonderful white sand beaches. Best part of our Scotland trip!

We wish you could have stayed longer too as I think you only managed 1 night here. We do tend to get booked up well in advance. Your room was the most recently refurbished and is one of the best rooms in the hotel. Thank you for your lovely review of us, and come back soon. More

Iona is a lovely, small island. Whilst it is possible to visit it on a day trip, I would strongly recommend staying on the island for at least a night or two to really appreciate its charms. If you do so, you could not do better than to base yourself at the Argyll Hotel. The rooms have character, and the... More

The twin sea view room had beautiful views and beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious with some interesting combinations. Quite expensive to stay but I suppose you are paying island prices and for the sea view.

We were there in July 2014. We had a nice enough dinner at the restaurant but after that it was downhill all the way. We had a room with an attached bath or maybe we should have called it a 'half' bath coz there was no way you could stand upright getting in or out of the bath due to... More

Dear Karen I am rather surprised that you have waited a year to comment on this, so I have to refer to my reply at the time to another guest. The rooms here are small compared to many modern hotels. We have never claimed otherwise, but the room that you were allocated should have been explained more clearly to you... More

We didn't stay at the hotel but ate here on three consecutive evenings. A very good meal each time with friendly service and ambience. Dishes we particularly enjoyed were small, sweet scallops with suckling pig, peanut and chilli sauce; roast beetroot with curry mayonnaise, strawberries and gremolata: gorgeous langoustines from the Sound of Iona served in the shell with garlic... Dear Myrtle Thank you for choosing to eat with us, and I am very pleased that the food was so much to your liking. I do apologise about the pickled mushrooms - it is certainly not how they are meant to be. Your review is greatly appreciated. More

I've just returned from staying in an hotel that made me think of home from home. The welcome was warm and very friendly and, as I needed to do some work, I was told where the best place to get a good WiFi signal was. Our room (number 4) looked out over the Sound of Iona and so lying in... More

After a day of walking on Iona and a visit to Staffa the Argyll Hotel provided a most excellent tea. Huge light scones with superb home made jam sitting by the waters edge. Made the experience most pleasant.
