It was really in October 2012, we visited Iona Abbey, the rain was torrential. We hadn't eaten since leaving Oban early. We were saturated, I remember a very warm reception and such a beautiful relaxing place. On looking at the menu it had something I had always wanted to taste, yes the Cullen Skink-it was Wonderfull. There are some things in... More

Received and treated by the host like we were four old friends. Good atmosphere in a well kept beautiful old house on a peaceful island with an overwhelmingly beautiful nature. Small rooms but nevertheless top score from us.

I've stayed at the Argyll on previous visits to Iona. It's still the charming, friendly place it's always been. My single room overlooked the back garden and I could see the tip of the ruined nunnery peak as well. Rooms are comfortable and bathrooms great - good shower and towel warmer. I would have liked a better reading lamp but... More

We had a fantastic stay here. It was a nice retreat for all of us who made the trip from the US. The staff were so welcoming and encouraged us to make ourselves at home..which we did. Dinner and breakfast were of high quality with lots of choices. Notably the staff is what make this place, they were attentive to... More

Rob and Wendi, the owners, do everything possible to make your stay in this magical island a perfect one. Though the rooms are not large, they are well appointed and frankly have everything you need without extra space. The location is ideal, directly on the water and walking distance to everything. And then there is the food. Wow. Exceptional would... More

My daughter and I had a two night stay at this hotel and were not disappointed. Great position overlooking the sea close to the ferry terminal. The building had bags of character with warm friendly staff and everything was of an unobtrusive high standard including the food. We will go again !

We were so lucky with the our visit to Iona . The weather made our visit wonderful. We even saw Dolphins in the bay from one of the lounges. Yes, our room was tiny and having a bath in the morning felt unusual in 2015 ( and felt wasteful, water wise) but comfortable, very clean, calm and we slept soundly.... More

Dear Katy May I am sorry to hear that you felt our welcome was so poor. There is no excuse for not making you feel welcome. One of the management should have suggested dropping your bags, going for a walk and then returning when things were quieter. We try to make everyone feel welcome and valued regardless of length of... More

It was 19 years since I last stayed here and I was very excited to return and bring my husband. If anything the hotel was even more special than I remember, and we had a wonderful two night stay. Our room was small in size but right on the front of the hotel and we enjoyed the most amazing sunrises... More

Dear Rae I am delighted to hear that we lived up to your memories though I cannot take any credit for your experience 19 years ago! It's always good to hear that the room facilities are meeting standards, and the old part of the building with the distinctively shaped windows are very popular rooms. And thanks for the great comments... More

What can I say?! First class!! Had a most enjoyable dinner last weekend. The customer service was excellent and all waiting staff were very knowledgeable. The menu choice creative, innovative and cooked to perfection. A wide ranging wine list to choose from was a joy and to sit looking out onto the Sound of Iona, a rare treat. The quality... More

Had a dinner here and really enjoyed the evening. The Hotel was cozy and warm, the staff were so friendly & the food was delicious. The menu was so interesting and had a lot to offer for starters, mains & dessert. The waiter was attentive and our cocktails were amazing, a nice wee touch to have tropical cocktails on such...
