The location, gardens, views and conservatory are the reasons to stay here. On a sunny day sitting out having a local beer or coffee and scones looking at the sound of Iona in one direction and the abbey in the other is fabulous. The staff collecting your bags from the ferry was really kind and a nice touch. A few... More

We were a group of 8 who visited in late July 2015. This was our third visit to the hotel and the best yet. The reception personnel could not have been any more accommodating, meeting us at the jetty to pick up luggage and transport one of our group with mobility issues. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We appreciated... More

We reserved this hotel through Booking.com and requested a room on an upper floor facing the harbor. when we arrived, they gave us a room on the first floor, facing into a fire escape and soem construction scaffolding. We refused and asked for another, but the clerk said we should have arrived earlier as they gave away the room we... More

This was the fourth time we have stayed at St. Columba so I thought it time to write a review. With only 2 main hotels on the island and what seems to be ever more visitors you might expect those hotels to become greedy and complacent but that is not our experience. Most of the rooms are on the small... More

The staff at the St. Columba Hotel treated us like extended family. From the helpful answers to emailed inquiries months prior to our arrival, to hauling our luggage from the ferry without being asked, to offering to dry my soggy boots in the boiler room (which worked very well), they were all wonderful and kind and helpful. The food was... More

One of only 2 hotels in the 1 village on the island, this hotel is on the road (lane) that leads to the island's historic Christian abbey: about 300 meters from the ferry wharf. My room (#6) was small with a single bed, and an efficient walk-in shower (confusing tap: my first shower was a cold one): all that I... More

Unfortunately no availability at the hotel so stayed in bed and breakfast on the Island, had evening meal at the hotel, afternoon tea and drinks over several days. Cannot fault the meal, wonderful, local caught langoustines, organic veg, local meat, home baked bread, deserts !! Staff very friendly and polite, excellent service. Will definitely stay at the hotel on our... More

Warm, friendly and outstanding service to make our stay extremely comfortable. We stayed a week, and throughout they provided tasty, well presented dishes and helpful advice on all things to do on the island.

Whilst I find all Scotland great at customer service, the hotel staff here really are exceptional. The hotel rooms are comfortable but the scenery is the star feature with a large sun lounge wher you can enjoy the scenery in the wet Scottish summer ! Food is locally sourced and the hotel has it's own organic veg plot. Great quality... More

The hospitality, especially from Dot (manager and an owner in the cooperative) was outstanding - both warm and "can do". I felt right at home when she smiled, knowing my name and the reservation. The location was great, overlooking the water and a brief walk from the ferry (there is no need to hire a tax unless your luggage is... More
