We visited on 22 October, in the last week of the ferry summer timetable and a week before the hotel closed for the winter. It was a nice stay, but it felt very much like a 'summer hotel' and you could tell things were grinding to a halt. It may be quite different in August, giving it the Tripadvisor No... more

This hotel has some great points; the food was excellent and I had a great steak; free internet access; the location is perfect with great views and the staff were excellent and helpful. The negatives for me were that it was quite expensive for the size of room we had which lacked a box of tissues which are normally provided... more

My husband and I were guests at this hotel for a week and did not have a single bad experience or meal. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and graciously served. The rooms were small but had everything one needed from hairdryer, towel warmer to coffee/tea maker. Bed linens were high quality. Towels were changed every 3 days. We... more

The journey to Iona and St. Columba is well worth the trip. I awoke each morning to the sound of sheep and the scent of flowers and grass. The hotel is wonderful, great staff, clean eco-friendly rooms and excellent food. Everything is grown fresh on the island. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price and each night there is... more

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at this hotel. We only stayed for one night - I wish we had known how good it was, otherwise we would have stayed for longer! Myself and my husband stayed here with our lively 2 year old daughter. The family room was an excellent size and spotlessly clean and had a... more

This hotel is made in heaven for the type of journey I was involved in. We were there in Iona for a spiritual retreat. The St Columba Hotel offered the perfect setting. The rooms could not be called spartan at all but were compact with just the essentails. Nice closet space and a lovely variety of cookies and teas were... more

A really well run small hotel. Spotlessly clean, good shower, comfortable bed, well stocked tea tray, pleasant staff and excellent home-cooked food. Fabulous location - a walk to the north beach on a summer evening would make you think 'where better'. The hotel atmosphere is relaxed and informal. Perfect for family gatherings, couples, singles and any age group. Someone has... more

Reviewer; Davy. In order to appreciate all that Iona has to offer you need to stay over for a night or two. We've done this several times. The St Columba is an excellent base near the Abbey, surrounded by its own vegetable garden. Bedrooms are fine but the conservatory overlooking the Sound of Iona is wonderful for reading, relaxing and... more

There aren't many choices for accommodations on Iona if you don't have a space at the Abbey. That having been said the St. Columba hotel is a good choice. The were some high points to my stay and quite a few low ones as well unfortunately. The negatives first: my room was on the second floor--quite small but adequate. The... more

In any other location or setting this hotel would be out of place. I have stayed there twice, the rooms are basic but clean and adequate. The food is excellant. Even the birds in the garden will want to share it, if you eat outside, guard your plate against feathered pirates. The setting and the atmosphere is so chilled out... more
