The Rob Roy Hotel is situated at the gateway to the Trossachs in beautiful countryside where one of Scotland's most famous rogue's "Rob Roy McGregor" once roamed. The Hotel is an ideal centre for touring the Trossachs, Perthshire and the Highlands. The little picturesque village of Aberfoyle is just 1 mile from the Hotel and is host to three visitor centres, The Scottish Wool Centre, The David Marshall Lodge and the Scottish Tourist Board's very own Discovery Centre. The historic city of Stirling is only 18 miles away, and here you can find our sister hotel The King Robert, situated next door to The Bannockburn Centre, on the site of the famous battle. more » « less

the decor is old - the beds are very uncomfortable - the web site does not show what its really like - and the bar looks like a community center bar - it only should be used for functions and parties - Great name shame about the Motel cause its not a hotel more

The hotel has been re-furbished (of a fashion) in parts but the buildings are very tired and dated. The staff where very pleasant and outwardly do as good a job as the hotel quality, demands of them. Okay if you are prepared to accept very mediocre food and sometimes served at a hectic pace ( 3 course dinner took 35... more

I stayed for five nights at this hotel as part of an organised coach tour of the area of mostly over 50's (i'm not one of them). From the outside this hotel looks a bit tired and we weren't too sure how it would be on the inside. The hotel is arranged with a main building housing the reception bar... more

Stayed at the rob Roy once again this year, First week in October Had no problems on previous visits, Was always value for money, staff pleasant and food was delightful. However I have to say Rob Roy its time for new decor Time to do away with both the roughcast and that horrid brown Paint in the bar area. We... more

We arrived at the Roy Roy hotel late and very tired after a long coach journey. We were told our room numbers and the keys were in the door. Our room was superb. Plenty of room, plenty of hangers in the built in wardrobe. The bathroom was also exceptionally clean and welcoming. The shower with lovely hot water and plenty... more

It was our first visit to Aberfoyle and we were pleasantly surprised by the excellent hotel facilities and great meals. The staff were courtious and friendly and the room was clean and tidy. It was a great centre to start exploring Loch Lomond and the Trossack Mountains. Aberfoyle was a very pleasing spot and the locals were all friendly. The... more

We booked into this hotel for an overnight dinner dance, when we arrived the hotel looked nothing like the web site,we had to pay in full prior to seeing our room, the bar area was in need of a coat of paint and a good clean, very dated decor and had sticky tables. We then went to our room and... more

We booked through a coach tour. We went with pensioners who were very dear people and loved to enjoy seeing the country as much as everyone would. The hotel was absolutely wonderful. It was typical fall. Brisk and bright and frosty at night. The area is wonderful, the rooms were terrific with hot showers, comfortable all around, the staff was... more

Didn't get the chance to look at previous reviews otherwise I would have looked elsewhere. Saying that, if you leave it late to book all the nice places are full up. Rob Roy was convenient for visiting the Trossachs, and the rooms were clean enough, although a little spartan. The pictures on the walls are simply awful!! We arrived to... more

This is like Maplin's circa 1960. Used as a base for a golf weekend...and thank god that's all it was. Bar is poor and and the decor is vile, and if you want atmosphere you'd be better on the Moon. Pubs in Aberfoyle are better, but they are a mile away. Rooms okay. Told on arrival that as the restaurant... more
