I liked the hotel a lot and my god the breakfast! WOW! That breakfast was worth the room price on it's own. I liked that you could come and go without passing through the front desk time and time over. The location of the hotel is incredible, however because it is a bit remote conveniences in the town are a... More

Looked for a place to stop on our trip to the north and came across this. We were aware of the mixed reviews, so expected it to be a lot worse. The room was ok, window does open, bed comfy, shower worked, the breakfast was fine. ample parking also. I would call it an average budget hotel. It is likely... More

Stayed for a couple of nights and would do so again. Recommended by a friend .First impressions can be deceptive the hotel is as has already been commented on a little tired externally .The rooms however are clean and spacious and the showers are more than adequate for the standard sized individual .The food was excellent and staff most attentive... We booked the Rob Roy to break our journey from the North of Scotland back to our home in North Wales. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The food is average but adequate. The hotel itself is, in a word, a dump. It should be described as a "hostel" rather than a hotel. Before this place could be described as... More

They call this a hotel, but it is an OLD motel, the last decoration must be from the seventies. Room awful, bathroom past it, old lino on the floor, feeble shower , yuk! Carpets past it too - all in all a BIG disappointment. Only consolation, a good breakfast, but by then we just wanted OUT!

Managed to get 4 nights dinner bed and breakfast for an absolute song... less than the price of bed and breakfast. Plusses... Friendly staff. Good food. Clean rooms. Value for money. Location (if you have transport). There were enough plusses that I wouldn't rule out a repeat visit... but a number of things could make it so much better... small... More

We have just spent 4 nights at the Rob Roy Hotel and like everyone else says we had a great stay. The hotel is a little dated but the welcome, service to us is more important. The rooms were comfy with tea and coffee etc, lovely white towells, shower gel sachets ,soap and hairdryer on request. The food we thought was exceptional... More

Just got back from four nights dinner, bed and breakfast at this very pleasant hotel. We had a really nice upgraded room which was both clean and comfortable. The only thing to spoil our stay was the inconsideration of other guest banging their doors late at night and first thing in the morning - it does not require much thought... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Rob Roy Hotel is situated at the gateway to the Trossachs in beautiful countryside where one of Scotland's most famous rogue's "Rob Roy McGregor" once roamed. The Hotel is an ideal centre for touring the Trossachs, Perthshire and the Highlands. The little picturesque village of Aberfoyle is just 1 mile from the Hotel and is host to three visitor centres, The Scottish Wool Centre, The David Marshall Lodge and the Scottish Tourist Board's very own Discovery Centre. The historic city of Stirling is only 18 miles away, and here you can find our sister hotel The King Robert, situated next door to The Bannockburn Centre, on the site of the famous battle. ... more   less
