My wife and I spent a long weekend here, and hardly ventured outside. The rooms are warm and comroftable, the food is excellent and it has a busy bar with locals and hotel guest both using it. It is located 5 mins from the town centre in a quiet resedential street so you are not disturbed in the night the... more

i have just returned from a weekend staying at the Old Racecourse Hotel with family and freinds - all of us having a brilliant time. We booked our rooms after bidding for a Weekend Dinner Bed and Breakfast deal on EBay. Because we did not pay the full going rate for our rooms we were not sure what standard to... more

I booked 2 rooms (rooms 7 and 2) over Easter 2008 on the hotel's own Web site on a 3-for-2 weekend rate deal. So 3 nights in a double cost £160 instead of £240; and 3 nights in a twin but used as a single cost £100 instead of £150. I think the full rate would be a bit pricey,... more

This Hotel advertises 7 spacious en-suite bedrooms. NOT TRUE. 6 of the rooms may be spacious but beware room 3. We were allocated this room and it was approximately 12'x8', not spacious in my opinion. Only just enough room to walk past the end of the bed. Again hotel states that trouser press and hairdryer in every room. Not in... more

Very helpful staff who seemed to cover all areas from the reception, to the bar and restaurant and breakfast! They let us check in as soon as the room was ready but well before official check in time. Clean room with comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. Only had lunch but the food was good. more

The hotel relies on its trade as a restaurant, however it lacks one or two things as a hotel, my room was large the bed comftable and the room was clean the bathroom was large but no bath (this did not bother me) however on two occasions I had cold showers I was told this was due to the boiler... more

The Old Racecourse Hotel is around a mile out of the Ayr town centre, where there are lots of bars and restaurants. My room was large and nicely furnished, with a quality duvet and pillows. The bathroom was newly fitted and looked superb, but I do prefer a bath to a shower (no bath ). Despite the size of the... more
