Dunlay House is ideally situated for taking a break in Ayr, being very close to both the town centre and seafront. The room we stayed in was furnished to a high standard and tastefully decorated, cosy and warm. The proprietor was extremely helpful in giving us any information and directions we asked for. The bed was very comfortable, and the... more

I would recommend that other people stay at the Dunlay. I was made very welcome and found the guest house to have a very warm and comfortable atmosphere. Rooms were clean and cosy, and the location is handy for the beach and town. Nothing was too much trouble. A lovely lady and staff. more

We stayed here for one night as we were driving through Ayr. It looked nice enough from the outside and was in a good location, close walking distance to town. The fact that the sign outside said it was rated 4 star was the clincher so we got a room. We were in the downstairs room next to the front... more

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel. The location was great, quiet area, a few hundred yards to the sea and 5 minutes to the shopping area. The owner of this hotel was very friendly and couldn't be more than helpful. The hotel and bedrooms had just recently been refurbished to a... more

I made a booking for this guest house, via Booking.com, back in October 2007 - I reserved a room for 4 nights in May 2008, as we are attending a family wedding. The price was quoted as £55 per night, making a total of £220. I confirmed my booking there and then. A couple of weeks ago, I received a... more

Our experiences with this establishment were very disappointing, culminating with the owner being rude and aggressive. We will also be writing to the Scottish Tourist Board. more

This was supposed to be a four-star guest house, but everything about it was disappointing. We have stayed at many guesthouses and B&B's, and this was the worst. We were supposed to have a double room, but it was actually two twins pushed together with separate sheets. This was not a case of a room that could be converted from... more
