I was concerned about previous reviews however these relate to before the take over by Mckeever hotels. Look only at the more recent reviews. The hotel is an old mansion with superb grounds and two council run golf courses attached. Rooms are clean and spacious and the staff are very helpful. The breakfast was excellent. more

i am told this hotel has recently been refurbished however, not to my standards anyway. The tiles i bathroom had quick lick tile paint and poor unfinished paintwork. finishes like taps and plug were old and not in keeping with the rest of decor The kettle lead didnt reach socket so making cuppa on the floor. The flat screen LG... more

As part of the Mckever group I knew the standards would be high, what a fantastic break I had, I took my 91 year old grandmother and my seven year old daughter with me and we all loved it. We went for lots of walks around the hotel to the swing park, to see the deer and round the walled... more

We had a wonderful stay at Belleisle. It was a really beautiful setting and so peaceful with lots to explore in the surrounding area. Have never slept so soundly, it must have been a combination of the sea air, good food and long walks not to mention the extremely comfy bed in our enormous room! Shower was good but water... more

My sister from California together with our husbands stayed here in March for four nights before going up to the Highlands. The staff were so helpful, nothing was to much trouble for them, you just had to ask and it was done. The hotel needs a little TLC and a bit off money spent on it but as it is a... more

This is the hotel out of Little Britain, with the dodgy hotelier who plays the pipes... it's cold, damp, smelly. We left within an hour. A shame as it could be so good. more

We were booked to stay at the Bellisle Hotel last night but checked out 5 minutes after checking in. This hotel is horrendous. The first thing that greets you is the smell of dampness in the reception area, which could be beautiful but sadly is just cold and unwelcoming. The bedroom was the worst I have ever seen with the... more

The Belleisle Hotel has a stunning exterior (excluding the 1970s add on which which was a dire mistake) with beautiful walks, pets corner and golf courses. It is heartbreaking when you walk inside. This could be such a fantastic Scottish Manor House but the decor is tired and everything is dirty. The sense of grandeur that you get from the... more

The staff were helpful but there were too few of them (e.g. one person to cover two bars and the check-in desk). It's a beautiful old house but it needs a lot of doing up. The (1970's) bar extension looks dreadful from the outside and the inside lives up to those expectations. The window of the unheated en-suite bathroom didn't... more
