Attended a wedding here in July and despite being the most miserable day of the year weather wise the staff and the food made it an exquisite day. The only negative point is that the lager is a bit more expensive than I would like £5 for a pint!

Hotel couldn't find our booking on arrival - we had a 10min wait whilst they got two rooms ready (asked for ground floor room for my parents) both rooms were very nice except we couldn't turn the heating down or off and had to ask the housekeeping staff who went to reception (where they turned it off). Breakfast OK -... More

After reading some of the reviews I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel but on arrival was pleasantly surprised. Our room was a bit dated but was clean and the bed very comfortable. There is a noise of an extractor fan that is on all of the time but by the second night I didn't notice it as much.... More

This was our fourth visit to the hotel and we have always been impressed however we feel after this visit that standards seem to have slipped a bit. Firstly the receptionist handed us the wrong room number key and we said that wasn't our booked room and we normally have the same room every time as we are regulars. Her... More

One negative in all the positives:- No lift So if you are less able make sure you get a ground floor room A classical manor house converted into a hotel with a modern spa Outstanding highlight was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Restaurant was standard fare but good quality and quantity [try the full Scottish breakfast] Ayr itself... More

We were supposed to stay here for two nights, but due to a medical problem we couldn't fly home, so we ended up spending eleven nights here. First, the staff was outstanding. We received friendly, helpful assistance. A special "thank you" to Morven at the front desk. I only recall two imperfections - 1. we stayed in rooms 15, 16,... More

Fairfield House is everything and more that one would expect from a 'proper' 4* hotel. the Location is wonderful, we were allocated the Arran Room, it was a very large room with chairs and a table in front of the bow window overlooking Ayr Green and the river. The bed was large and very comfortable and the room was very... More

We stayed here one night for an event in Ayr. The room was large and light but definitely not for people with allergies - thick tapestry hangings behind and over the bed. It seemed clean enough until we went into the bathroom and found an unflushed but used toilet (sorry for the tmi) and flourishing mold around the shower. We... More

Just returned from a 6 day stay whilst at the Commonwealth Games. A thoroughly enjoyable break - very friendly staff, excellent food (and if you've time have the afternoon tea scones - they're to die for), Very spacious , peaceful rooms with lovely views (even in the bathroom!) - we were in Sovereign- and very comfy beds , what more... My Second visit here the first being fine. We were put in the Churchill suite which was big, but pink and flowery and oh so tired .. with old brown furniture & peeling paint, no working ceiling lights and shower mould. but that was not the worst of it! if you've ever been on a ferry or near a ships...
