This hotel is now REALLY tatty. I stayed here 5 years ago and it was bad then but now it's even worse and I suspect (judging by the threadbare holes in the carpet in my room) not a penny has been spent on it in the meantime. The rooms are VERY small and the storage appalling (a cupboard with a... More

I booked a stay in this hotel to attend a friends party. As I was going to be out of the hotel for a fair amount of time, I wasn't overly concerned about the facilities it offered, but more the room and value for money. And I was pleasantly surprised. The reception staff were very friendly, parking was very simple... More

Second stay in a Mercure this week and probably will never ever have a third stay! As with the Mercure dunkenhalgh this hotel is shabby, dirty and unloved. The corridors leading to the rooms have tatty paintwork and thread bear carpets, the rooms are tired with chipped furniture, the bathroom had the dreaded dirty grout, hairs in the shower and... Centrally located in Ayr, this hotel gives a real welcome to its guests. My wife and I stayed there whilst I did some business in the area and also had a couple of nights of holiday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The Manager and the staff in all departments were attentive and friendly whilst delivering a professional standard to guests.... More

Typical small town large hotel. Everything is about 30 years old. Rooms are small. Beds are firm. Carpet is worn. The internet is good. Great location, 5 min walk from everything. You can see the sea from my 3rd floor window. The bar downstairs is a little pricey. Overall very quaint and tidy, but not impressive.

As I was staying for just one night and was heading out fir the evening, I booked a compact room. It lived up to its name, with the double bed occupying most of the available space, but had all that was required, including tea/coffee tray. The bed was comfortable, the wifi fine and the TV adequate, though without foreign language... More

I stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding and it's comfortably the worst Mercure hotel I've experienced. My room and bathroom was dirty, there was bird mess all over the windows and the 'restaurant' bar area was very dated. The breakfast on the first day was shocking (muesli that was mostly flour, cheap thin bread and a toaster that... More

Last week I stayed here while on a little golfing break with a couple of pals. The hotel in certainly close to whatever action there is in Ayr and for us an excellent location for golf courses. It was fine for what we wanted which was basically bed, breakfast and a few beers in the evening. However, I would make... More

Room was average, could've been bigger, bed was comfortable and shower was good, very clean. Restaurant and bar were lovely, food was average. Staff (when around) were good and attentive. Wouldn't rush back.
