We stayed here on the personal recommendation of friends in Ayr. Great friendly welcome and cases carried up to the room for us as we checked in. Full of old world charm and a warm friendly hotel. Nice room, lots of light and a nice comfortable bed. There are some peeling bits of paper in the bathroom , by the... More

Recently visited for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice and although very busy the seating was arranged so that none was feeling cramped. The menu was vast and have a good choice of both moderate and upper end prices. The service was very good. Being attentive but not annoying. The food was presented to a high standard and was reasonably... More

We were bowled over by the customer service. Everyone was so friendly and helpful without getting under your feet. The room was perfect- clean, conservatively decorated with plenty of storage if staying for a few nights. The ensure was clean, mould free and had an in bath shower. We did not eat dinner at Chestnuts but it is obviously very... More

A good place to stay when you want to be comfortable and relax after a day on the river. Room small and functional, food wholesome, simple and well prepared, very friendly and helpful staff and proprietor. Nothing too much trouble. Good quality wines and whisky. Can be busy when non residents come for the early restaurant price reduction.

I stayed over at The Chestnuts Hotel two weeks ago, while on a business trip to Dumfries & Galloway and Ayrshire. On arrival at the hotel, I received a friendly welcome and was offered a very nice bedroom facing the front elevation. The room was well presented and had all the facilities I require, ie tea/coffee making facilities, free wi-fi,... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here in November of 2013 for one night on our trip around Scotland. It was exactly what we'd hoped - a small, friendly and inviting inn with a great pub and cozy rooms! It was a little cold and rainy when we first arrived, and the reception area of the hotel was so welcoming and... More

Celebrated parents golden wedding anniversary in the private garden room. Party ranged in age from 10 to 86 and everyone had a fabulous time. Service was excellent from time of booking. Attention on the evening was second to none especially on a Saturday night when both the bar and restaurant were very busy. Food was both delicious and generous in... More

From the moment we entered the Chestnuts Hotel we knew that this was going to be our base for an exploration of Scotland. Great hospitality, a warm welcome, a room with a "je ne sais pas quoi"-touch to it. So we stayed for three days and went to Glasgow by train (great information provided by the hotel), visited the coast... More

Two couples from the US on a golf vacation in Scotland. We stayed for three nights and we absolutely loved this hotel. The rooms are nicely furnished and absolutely spotless. The staff can not do enough for you. We had dinner the evening we arrived and breakfast three morning and all were very good. This hotel is on a quiet... More
