Can't fault this reasonably priced hotel. Without doubt the happy and helpful staff are the key to this hotel's deserved friendly reputation. Don't believe the negative reviews. You know a hotel is doing things right when locals pop in for a beer and a meal. Bar full even on a Monday and Tuesday night. A favourite for golfing groups -... More

This was Day 6 on our epic 1114 mile bike ride. The hotel was fantastic, great rooms, welcome and meal too. It was difficult to leave and get back on our bikes! The only thing our room lacked was a bath so soak our aching limbs but some doubles did have them

By far the most unfriendliest restaurant I've ever been to. Staff were rude and we sat for 40 minutes before anyone even took our drinks orders. Children are only welcome if they are outside, staff moan, glare and grunt at kids inside the restaurant. Extremely over priced as well, would not recommend.

22 of us visited over the bank holiday weekend and were treated like family. We were looking for a homely Scottish welcome for a homecoming for my 90 yr old mother in law and children, grandchildren, wives, husbands, partners and great grandchild. We got just the place we were looking for. The chestnuts is a right hive of activity from... More

The moment you walk through the door of the Chestnuts you feel welcome and that continues for the duration of your stay. The menu is extensive and the value outstanding. Service is prompt and great value for money. If you go in the winter there is a fire in the left hand corner which adds to the already genuine warm... More

I stayed for one night at the Chestnut, located on the outskirts of the town it offers great value for money with good food served in the bar or restaurant .Stayed in a double room, it was spacious and well furnished, highlight was definitely the excellent service and friendly staff, I would recommend the Chestnut.

Staff truly lovely people and owners too. Garden Room for a small private party was wonderful and staff always on hand to make sure we were okay. Dinner was excellent and the finished bill didn't hurt the pocket either. Warm, welcoming and any negative statements by guests are just picky. An excellent visit. Thank you Chestnuts. .........

Stayed here two weeks ago for a few nights, staff were extremely helpful, nothing was any bother to them. Food was excellent it was reasonably priced with good sized portions, the sticky toffee pudding was by far the best I've ever tasted. Would recommend the hotel to all my friends, we would stay here again most definitely.

Did not stay at the hotel, but were in for a family meal on Sunday and they had a large menu, although not a great deal that jumped out at me. However, I opted for the Cajun chicken and this was reasonably priced as they do a selection of dishes at £7.95 before 6.30pm. I would say the starters and... More
