My wife booked a two night stay at this Hotel through Herald, Easy break internet offers. Although we have stayed at this Hotel some years ago we always found it good value and an excellent location. We arrived bang on 14.00 to check in but receptionist refused to check us in despite us having written confirmation of check in time also ask her to check the hotel website which states 14.00 check in time,but was met with a "Look at my face... am I bothered?" reply from Leanne I think her name was. Very old hotel but very conveniently located next to the Ayr train station. Rooms are very clean but the elevator may not work. I had to drag my luggage up two flights of stairs. more

Just back today from the Station Hotel, yes the room was a bit shabby as stated but the bed was clean, there was plenty hot water, meals were lovely, especially the breakfast far better than some of the hotels nearby that I could mention who charge double just for the room!! I stayed at the Station Hotel, Ayr for 1 night (3rd October 2009) and it was the worst hotel we have ever stated in. Should have know straight away what it was going to be like - unhoovered carpets in the Reception area, freezing cold corridors etc Need I go on? on first inspection you would have thought the room... more
I am sorry to hear your stay was not up to your expectations. We do not have our heating on 24 hours a day however there was a slight problem during your stay which has now been rectified as for the cleanliness of your room I can only apologise, we have made some procedural and staffing changes lately.
Stayed at the station hotel for 2 nights is september for the horseracing at Ayr. Firstly the location was great, in the centre of the town with lots of free car parking. read the reviews for this hotel, arrived and thought i had gone to the wrong place. the staff were friendly from reception to room service. stars were adelle, rob, lisa, anne and tom the night manager, my friends and i will certainly go back if only for more toast,(a running joke). food brilliant, service great, a bit of train noise... more

Room was OK, everything worked, plenty hot water, food was good, staff friendly. Biggest complaint was the state and smell of the carpet in the corridor leading to the dining room - it was disgusting. Bar had no draught beer and not enough lemonade to make two shandies. more

dirty bannisters, dirty carpets, dirty bath room walls ,dirty windows dirty everything. we stayed at this hotel through newmarket holidays never again. i have never expericened any thing like it . we had my 86 yr old dad with us and to think i subject him to this appalling hotel wlth its dirty fixtures and fittings and i had paid... more
Thank you very much for taking the time to record your thoughts, I aplogise if you feel that your stay was not up to your standards. The hotel is adjacent to the railway which does result in dust coming through the windows and doors and the night porters do vacuum nightly.
