We have been staying in holiday cottages in most parts of Scotland for over 12 years now, and can honestly say Doonbank Cottage is without doubt the finest we have found for both people and their pets. We have just returned from a truly memorable week. The weather was better than we could have hoped for, indeed it was a... More

What a fantastic cottage, gorgeous rooms, very spacious, had absolutely everything you need for a self catering holiday. We stayed with our 2 Tibetan Mastiff who had a fantastic time in the garden and woods. We stayed in November and were really lucky with the weather. Very close to Ayr beach and a short trip to Troon beach. Even though you were... More

My family plus our five boarder collies stayed here over the August Bank Holiday and had one of our best breaks yet. The house was clean, spacious and well set up with everything we needed and the grounds were absolutely fantastic for the dogs who I think had a better time than we did. Easy to get to and perfectly... More

We stayed at Doonbank Cottage back in June and we thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful setting the cottage provided. Set back from the estate you totally feel like you're in the country rather than a village. The gorgeous flowers were in full bloom during our stay and we had Rabbits grazing on the lawn morning and night ( much to our... More

The house is set in wonderful grounds and having good weather for the week meant we could use it to the full. Great walks along the river. Very relaxing.Easy access to Ayr as well just 10 mins drive away. Ample grounds for our dog Sweep to roam freely as well. Spotlessly clean. As I mentioned earlier we used the cottage... More

This has to be one of the most relaxing breaks we have had. Doonbank is a high quality accommodation, warm, comfortable and with so many personal bits & pieces it is not like a holiday let. The house looks even better than the photograph suggests. Unfortunately January is perhaps not the best time of year for a garden to look... More

My Husband Brother-In-Law and I plus our two dogs stayed for one week in Doonbank Cottage. It was spacious ,comfortable, and well equipped. The garden was full of wildlife and each day we saw something different. We found the location very good, only a few minutes to local shops and hotels where the food was excellent and reasonable. The best... More

The time we spent at Doonbank Cottage was one of the most enjoyable that I have had in years. I can still hear the calming sound of the river and recall those long relaxing walks with the family and the dogs. This holiday was pure escapism for all of the family. The children never got bored and my wife and... More

We were able to relax completely, we became so stress free. The house and the grounds are beautiful and only occasionally ventured out from the grounds. Our family dog loved running free in the grounds. A wonderful holiday was had by all. Thank you very much. We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, the wildlife was wonderful, we fed Hamish on a... We have stayed in a few self-catering cottages in England over the last few years, but Doonbank certainly gave us more value for for our money than experienced in the past. For a golfer, the location is ideal. Alloway is a treasure - check out the local post office shop. It has many goodies. The Brig O Doon restaurant is... More
