Quite old fashioned style hotel - think heavy dark furniture and patterned furnishings. We chose this hotel as it was handy to Glasgow and M8 (with a car about 25 mins) and had a pool. They seemed to have plenty of facilities for smaller children and the pool was excellent, but if you're looking for bright, airy and modern this... more

Just got back from the Bowfield, we went there as guests and left feeling like friends. On arrival my first thoughts were OMG it looks a mess on the outside, however, once inside we got a freindly reception, our room was big and very clean, the hotel has the best pool and spa. Highlight of our stay was the food.... more

The first night we were there we were given a ground floor family room and got no sleep due to the people in the room above thumping around all night long. Not only did their floor (our ceiling) creak, but they seemed to be endlessly pacing the floor with no end in sight, even during the middle of the night... more

We have just returned from a 3 night break at the Bowfield and had a great time. However we had mixed feelings about the stay. The good bits were very good, but felt it was inconsistant. The room was spotless and vey comfortable with a lovely view of the countryside. The best pillows of any hotel I have stayed in.Lovely clean... more

We try to get away when we can and have used the Hiltons and De Veres so we know quality when we're in it Found Bowfield on the internet and booked a three... more

Booked through Late rooms, so got a fab deal. The hotel is clean and nice. A lot more character than any Hilton. The rooms were small but clean and tastefully decorated. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Couldn`t do enough to assist. Amazing food! Last time I had food of this standard was 5* and never expected it to be... more

We stayed one night in this hotel as a break from the kids (!) and found it to be just what we needed. The room we had was very clean and well presented with a very comfortable bed. It didn't have a great view (of the swimming pool) but the very pleasant countryside beyond was visible. The leisure facilities are... more

We stayed in this hotel on preferential rates after a function held there (but still £100 B and B for a double room). We were quite shocked at the standards of cleanliness and the shabby outdated appearance of the place. Our room stunk of cigarette smoke though we were assured there was a smoke detector in the room - this... more

Have stayed here a couple of times, reccommended by family. Some parts of the hotel are rather dated but we could quite happily put up with that as the leisure facilities are excellent and the local area is great for venturing out and about. Previously standards were good but this time we were a little disappointed to say the least.... more

Was almost put off by the September 06 traveller's experience, but had to stay anyway. We found the food quality very good although service was maybe more friendly than professional. Not enough space given over to adults only in this family facility but when thay have gone it's great. More a local club than a hotel which adds to the... more
