We stayed there for 2 nights and it was wonderful! Especially the blue single room is lovely!! The house has a lovely Miss Marple-touch! Breakfast was very rich and delicious and Helen and Brian were very nice and friendly! We are hoping to return! more

We stayed for 2 nights at this querky little Guest House and had a ball. There are not many Houses of this kind left that truly offer genuine hospitality, but the hosts at Carra Beag couldn't have been more welcoming. On arrival the open fire in the residents lounge was roaring. The attentive host offered us port ( and later... more

We arrived at Carra Beag quite late in the afternoon and was welcomed by a very kind and friendly lady. She told us to make ourselves comfortable in the lounge, while we quickly filled in an information form. Our first impressions of the guesthouse were of a small and cosy highland home with lots of character. The interior decoration was... more

We stayed for 1 night in this guesthouse on the 12th June this year and were very pleased with it. Breakfast was very good. Lady of the house was very friendly and tried to communicate with every guest during the breakfast period. Room was perhaps a little bit old fashioned, but we did not care about that, it was very... more

We stayed at Carra Beag for two nights on 9 & 10 June 2006 and have to say that this was the worse place we'd stayed in all week. We'd read positive reports on Trip Advisor so chose it because of them. Unfortunately what we found and what we'd read were two different things. On arrival we were met by... more

Management response from
stony, owner/proprietor

Although this review was written some time ago ( and is now out of date ) it continues to linger on Trip Advisor and casts a bad light on our Guest House. At the time these guests stayed at our house, due to personnal circumstances, the Guest House was indeed run by managers. Perhaps they did not have the same...

We arrived at the Carra Beag house mid afternoon in Apr, and were welcomed by the owner straightaway. After being taken around the common areas which were very tastefully decorated, we were shown our room, which was a bit disappointing. Being newly-weds, I had requested a room with a view. However, not only did we not get one without a... more

Everything about our stay at Carra Beag was excellent. We thought the price just £49.00 pp for 3 nights was an ominous sign that it might be dodgy. This couldn't have been further from the truth. Our room was warm and cosy with a fantastic veiw ( especially at night ) across the town & hills. Breakfasts in the morning... more

Travelled from Edinburgh by Train to Pitlochry and walked to Guest house from the station (5 minutes). A warm welcome greeted us from Brian the owner of Carra Beag which immediately put us at ease. Our room was warm and cosy which was a relief after the near 0 degrees Centigrade outside. This quaint Guest house is centrally located which... more
