We spent a few days touring Scotland by train. This hotel was our final stop and it turned out to be the best stay of all. We only had one night which was not enough but we plan to return in the near future

A friendly welcome from staff who were very attentive. Love being greeted by the owner's dog. The food was excellent and one dish was adapted to be gluten and lactose free. It made our Father's Day and birthday celebrations very pleasant. Thanks.

You arrive with a warm welcome from Henrietta and everything continues to be perfect from there. The rooms are well appointed with lots of nice touches. The grounds and gardens are beautiful. They have bird feeders at the front door that attract all types of interesting birds. The included meals are fabulous. All the staff are friendly and go out... More

We are dog people, so being greeted by a pup always is a good thing. This is a lovely inn with an old-fashioned feeling coupled with amazing food and superb staff. Henrietta greeted us and checked us in about 2:30 in the afternoon. I asked if we could get a some food as we hadn't eaten lunch. Of course she... More

Thank you so much for those delightful words - Beanie is a huge asset and as can be seen from you photograph, truly does rule the roost! It can be a long time between meals when you are travelling by train, so it was easy to rustle up a sandwich to sustain you through the afternoon. Glad you enjoyed it.... More

Change of direction and ended up at the Killiecrankie, a very rewarding diversion. A Great Fish Menu is on offer for the month, so a delicious scallop and chorizo tart followed by excellent sea bass in a mild curry definitely hit the spot. Consistently very good as one would expect. In passing it is heartening to see that they still... More

Thank you so much for such nice words - funnily enough I think the trend is turning towards lunch as more and more people tend to eat in the middle of the day and have the 'healthier' option of something light in the evening. And with this new stricter drinking and driving thing, pehaps it's nicer to stay at home... More

It bodes well for a hotel when you are met by a friendly spaniel and then the owner, who was ever-present and clearly runs the place with a good eye for detail. Comfortable, warm room. Excellent food and cosy bar. Service efficient and friendly. Old school in a good way.

More gratitude for yet another lovely review - thank you! It was such a brief stay, but I am so glad you enjoyed it. Do come again soon - we'd love to see you back and, after all, you don't live far away!! With best wishes from Henrietta and all the team More

If I could award 6 stars, I would. Our stay here for the past few days has been faultless. Which I rarely say. Our hosts were very welcoming and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was large, well equipped and very comfortable. The cuisine was outstanding, the chef is indeed talented. I appreciated the selection of... More

Wow, what a lovely review - thank you so much for taking the time to write it - we did enjoy having you both (for too short a stay, I have to say) and hope that, although I appreciate it's a heck of a journey, you will return to these hills one day. I know that other travellers look to... More

Just north of Pitlochry, almost in the center of Scotland, stands a gracious white-walled building, once the local minister's residence, or manse, now a particularly fine country house hotel. I cannot say enough good about it. Staying there is more like paying a visit to friends than it is like staying in a hotel. The dining room, a rich deep... More

Oh my Goodness you brought tears to our eyes. What an extraordinarily kind review that is and thank you so much for writing it. Having guests who stay for more than a week can be a daunting prospect. With you it was well worth the anticipation and we enjoyed every minute of your stay. So thank you again, and come... More

Absolutely lovely meal here with my Husband, we were taken to the bar area for a drink before dinner and looked after so well by the staff, particularly beanie the sweet little hotel pooch who excells as front of house and snuggled up to us while we drank. Dinner was delicious served in the opulent dining room and Callum was... More

On a rail tour of Scotland my husband and I spent a couple of nights in the company of Henrietta at this wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. Never thing about it was first rate, from the welcome as we arrived, to the hot water bottles tucked neatly in our beds at the end of the day. The food was... More
