We stayed at the Dunalastair Hotel in July 2008 and found it to be pleasant although a little rough around the edges and in need of some investment. The website does an excellent job of selling the hotel, but when you arrive you can clearly see you've been sold something that doesn't really exist... GOOD POINTS Restaurant - excellent food... more

Booked the Honeymoon Suite for friends for gift for their 20th Wedding Anniversary. It was such a disappointment to them. The room and bathroom were shabby, worn and tired looking, not what we expected after looking at the lovely rooms on the website. It was so bad that my friends left that day and didn't stay over. Fortunately the charges... more

We first stayed at Dunalastair over Hogmanay 6 years ago. Our experience was so positive that we returned 3 years later and again, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The requested 'cow free' diet for one of our party was taken seriously and catered for excellently. At Hogmany 2007/8 we noted a marked decline in the standard of organisation and attention to... more

Dunalastair Hotel 2nd January 2008 After our telephone conversation I would like to confirm the points and issues which I raised at the hotel. I regret that some aspects of our stay did not live up to our expectations, in particular the hogmanay celebration and some items in our room. I can confirm that your staff were excellent at all... more

We booked this hotel last minute to get a bit of a break before going back to work for the New Year. We arrived in around 10cm of snow and felt immediately at home with the roaring log fire in the reception. Our room was a Monarch 4 Poster suite and it was as good as it sounds! A large... more

Just had a wonderfully relaxing weekend break at the Dunalastair - Rooms and lounge really comfortable, food very good, and excellent low-key but attentive and welcoming service. Some may find the decor and artefacts a bit highland pastiche, but in the main it presents itself as an authentic country house hotel. Likewise, in keeping with its age, the finishes and... more

Stayed at the Dunalastair Hotel for two nights (B&B only)as a last minute deal via and external website. The location and hotel itself was excellent. Great base for walking, fishing, etc. I was very very disappointed with the service. The attitude of the male on reception was terrible. First, he was very demanding that's we'd have dinner on the first... more

The warm welcome promised at this hotel was non existant, probably due to the fact that there just weren't enough staff. All the staff were rushed and harrassed. We had 2 rooms between the 4 of us, one of them was desparate for a makeover - the mould in the bathroom was revolting. Evening meals were OK but small, especially... more

My husband and I were on a walking holiday and had the last night booked at the Dunalastair. What a disappointment! On arrival there was no facility for a late lunch or snack of any kind. The only option for dinner was a very pricey 3 course set menu. After dinner we went to the lounge for a coffee and... more

Located on the Square of a small Scottish Village of Kinloch Rannoch, set close by a Loch, this is a very good destination Hotel if you seek the real Scottish experience. Very good Dining Room, comfortable rooms, and very helpful staff. However it is not on a road that leads anywhere other than beside the Loch, but is close to... more
