Recently stayed at The New County Hotel to celebrate my birthday with my husband and had an absolutely fantastic weekend!! Our room was spacious and clean and had a separate sitting area from the bedroom. We dined in the Opus One restaurant which was just superb! Could not fault the service or the staff and the sticky toffee pudding is... more

A disgusting excuse for a rat hole. Workmanship on bathroom was appalling, dribbling excuse for a shower, noise of running water alnight, tired squeaky beds, dismal outlook, surly staff, toilet roll on holder had only 5 pieces left - there was a new roll but that is going through really some scrooge menagement. "You could have got a better room... more

We stopped off in Perth en-route home from the Highlands. A beautiful city, with great culture and leisure facilities, but the hotel was a great disappointment, especially given that we went on the Rough Guide recommendation. The hotel has apparently been refurbished but all we could see was the obvious work in the lobby and restaurant area. We were allocated... more

This hotel is located right onto a very busy street, and as one of the bedroom windows could not be sealed the road noise became intolerable to try and sleep during the night and would start up in the early morning. Added to this there was a hot water pipe running through our room (Room 107) which was permanently hot... more

This hotel is a bit of a mixed blessing. It's obviously a 'work in progress' and is being refurbished bit by bit. The lobby is lovely, but the entrance hall and stairs are out of a 1950s horror movie - uneven, twisting, narrow stairs and stick-on signage from the car spares shop. The dining room is lovely and modern and... more

The standard, quality and presentation of the food at this hotel is outstanding, better than I have eaten at many top restaurants. 3 courses for £27.50 is very good value. The bedrooms are spotlessly clean and functional if not luxurious. The service was great, prompt, friendly and courteous. Also I got a better rate when I phoned direct, rather than... more

We booked the 3 day Hogmanay special and have just returned having stayed an extra night. The whole package was excellent and included trips to a Hogmanay event and a separate theatre visit! We were delighted with the lovely reception area, Cafe 22 and the Restaurant, Opus One. We've been to lots of very nice restaurants - this rates as... more

Stayed here over New Year 08/09. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Staff very friendly , lots of activities arranged without being intrusive. Service slightly on the slow side due to under staffing. Food was top class nothing was too much trouble even menu changes. Very relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to visit again. more

We stayed at the New County Hotel in Perth, room 107 and my in-laws stayed in room 108 for one night. Some of the reviews we had read were mixed however our stay was great and am glad we went. Another night would have been nice! The hotel reception area was lovely, it was bright, clean and modern and we... more
