On a recent family trip to Irvine, money was a big issue so finding a decent hotel at the minimum cost was a priority. We booked a family room at this hotel and to be honest didn't expect much more at 2 star than a place to sleep. We got much more than expected, the room was large and very... more

We had a two night stay at the Harbourside Hotel and were a tad cautious after reading some of the reviews on here. We arrived at the Hotel just before 9pm and let ourselves in with a security code that the manager had given us on booking. We had a nice welcome note on the door and also the contact... more

I stayed at the Harbourside on 28th June for 2 nights. I was travelling / staying on my own, so I had pre-booked the transfer from Prestwick Airport to the Hotel. I found this service to be perfect for my needs as I hadn't booked car hire. Sure enought the driver was waiting for me on my arrival. After appx... more

I would not spend my holidays at the place: "second hand" interior, most of the time no staff available (reception closed). But on the other hand: cheap (compared with our stays in the Highlands), our room was clean, beds ok (slept like a rose) and very conveniently located only 1 minute from railway station leading you in 15 minutes to... more

We stayed on Saturday the 12th April ’08, there were about 20 of us, all family in Irvine for a wedding. We arrived to find no-one at reception. Our names were clearly printed with room numbers on the front door (thankfully not the main door). Luckily one of my brothers had arrived before us, so he could let us in.... more

What can I say? Eighteen members of the same family were in Irvine for a wedding - organised for some time then, we stayed in this place...perhaps some extra members of staff would have been advisable given that breakfast the next day would OBVIOUSLY be busy! Alas no, the TWO breakfast staff were rude and unhelpful and, when one of... more

We stayed at the Harbourside Hotel for one night on our way from London to the Highlands and met there with our German friends who even received a free shuttle service from the airport (by the hotel - which would at least cost 30 pounds as it is quite a distance). After having read the other reviews we were expecting... more

We didn't stay. Our room looked OK, but the 'hotel' felt more like a hostel and we didn't feel comfortable. For breakfast we were told to help ourselves to the Smartprice bread etc left out in the kitchen. We rang to say we were leaving and were told 'you get what you pay for'. We decided to pay a little... more

We chose the Harbourside Hotel in Irvine because of its proximity to the ferry terminal at Ardrossan (only 15 minutes away) for our trip to the Isle of Arran. The website claims that the hotel is located in the 'cosmopolitan are of Irvine Harbourside'. Well, the hotel is located on a very very run down street across from an abandoned... more
